Create some cool perler art with this image converter

You may know perler art from the playschool. Perler art is created from these little plastic pearls, you stick them on a board and tie them together by using a electric iron. I once saw many cool pieces on flicker and decided to create some perler art by myself. As it was hard to recreate some pieces, i decided to programm a little application that uses images as source for displaying a draft of the desired art.

Just play with the tools on the right side of the application to see what it is capable of. Maybe you get inspired to do some perler art for yourself. The application can output different styles, color schemes (for example only available colors of the hama plastic perls product programm) and export outputs as png files. The numbers in the colors underneath the output picture indicates how much plastic pearls you will need to recreate the image. Next version will have an option for uploading your own files too. Until then you will find many of your favourite 8 and 16-Bit game characters in the first pulldown menu.

If you still dont know what perler art is try using google image search:

hmm...

it's not bad, but why? i really don't see the point of this.

ummmm...

cool i guess... but this really has no place as a flash... for one there really isn't any moving or interaction you just get to see a picture in different formats... also takes for ever to load anything on the screen another reason... i have to say sorry but try again when you have a better idea

Grea- Okay, Awesome.

I like this little application of yours (someone should put this in the Gadgets Collection) because it converts a number of sprites into perler art! Well enough for a kid to use this and pass off the work as a "picture"! You might have some potential as a good programmer too!

Anyway, now for the downsides :(. It's a converter, but the sad thing is nobody can actually "import" their own pic in there and make a good art. There's also the fact we can't even make our own thing in there like paint, but that's out of subject because this is a converter.

I still caught a glimpse of some familiar sprites from the Metal Slug series, and the classic Piranha Plant, etc.

In summary, IT'S DAMN GOOD!
