A short commentary on the ridiculous health and safety regulations in especially the UK.

This is my first submission to Newgrounds. Constructive criticism will be much appreciated.

Makes me think!

Nope, I'm never going to the UK! ^^;

The character and environment design is delightful! It kind of gives it the feel of an adventure game like Little Big Adventure. But still, a moving commentary, nonetheless. I was smiling at the characters the whole time, though! :3

Liked it!

The characters were all nicely done, and I liked how you tried to convey your message by starting out with birth, then baby years, and then showed that you can ruin a perfect healthy life, a child in this case, by careless, reckless driving.

In the future I would make some of the scenes like when the mom threw out the diaper less long, as it didn't add to the dramatic atmosphere of the whole situation.; She kind of walked slow. :P

So what's the point?

I'm not seeing the point of this. I don't see this as a criticism of overbearing health and safety regulations, but what I see in your animation is that it's the fault of reckless driving and the carelessness of people in general. It was a smooth animation though.

HotClaw responds:

Thanks for your response. I know it didn't really come across very well, but I was trying to convey the fact that the child's survival instincts and common sense were stunted by the excessive health and safety regulations. They stripped him of his ability to think for himself.

He crosses a one-way street after only looking to the right (because the sign said so). When a car drives up the wrong side of the street, it hits him. He could have avoided the collision if he had instinctively looked both ways.

People are reckless and act unpredictably, but they will always be that way. Excessive health and safety regulations fail to protect people from unforeseen circumstances and actually endanger them further by turning them into instruction-following drones.
