Network Speed Test

I just made this in like an hour out of boredom. Enjoy. Please note that if you test it again, you have to clear your temporary files. Just to make it clear, press the "start test" button and wait for it to finish. The number in the right hand circle is your network speed in kilobytes per second (x1024 gives you it in MBPS) Also, please excuse the icon, I made it in like 30 seconds with paint and google images. I might update it soon, aswell as the actual graphics on the speed tester. Please recomend for the gadgets collection. I respond ot all reviews.

10240

definately not too shabby must agree on reset button though

6400

not a bad little gadget! could use a reset button though

Interesting, but with a bug

There ought to be a separate NG category for Flash files that are neither movies or games, and this is one example.

That said though, a utility for measuring network speed is very useful. However, once you perform the test there needs to be a way to reset it so you can test it again. Subsequent reopenings of the flash and running the test has it going to 100% almost immediately with no visible readings to the right.

yeah, thanks, the reson it does that is because it loads a 1MB picture off screen, times how long it takes, then divides 1024 by the time it took to give you the speed. The picture is then stored in your temporary files, so you have to clear them to test it again.

cool...

It's neat to see a network speed tester created with flash. Could've looked a little cooler though, with a spiffier appearance. Nice work though.

andy70707 responds:

thanks, I probably would have spent longer on the graphics and stuff, but I uploaded this in a hurry.

hmmmm

could be handy, but this is nothing new

andy70707 responds:

Thanks, but I've never seen a flash network sperdtester (well, on NG anyway)
