Star Survival: NOVA

Avoid the planets, if things get critical you can click the mouse to sacrifice one life and destroy several planets around you.

This is the first game I ever made, modified after being reviewed by the newgrounds community.

Stuff added:

1. Ability to sacrifice a life to release an explosion

2. Remade the planets systems so it is more efficient

3. One second invulnerability after being hit

4. Made the game easy in the beginning and hard at the end

5. Better scoring mechanics

6. Added a scoreboard

7. Improved hit testing.

8. Mute button.

Nice!

Simple but quite entertaining. And I love how gradual the difficulty rises. It's subtle yet still noticeable enough to maintain interest. All in all quite good when you're bored. 8/10.

Thank you^^

I liked the game.

It was a good game. A few things, it could just be on the computer I'm using, but the game was kinda laggy. No big problem there. Only things I did have a problem with were if you were hit, you could still use your explosion and use another life. Obviously some people would want to be able to do that, but I only used that power to blow up planets if there was no way around them. Second thing was that you can't collect the stars if you are invulnerable. Again, I can see the reason for it (and it's easier if you don't have to make that kind of distinction between the stars and the planets) but that was one reason I would use the explosion was to get stars that were traveling inside planets. But I couldn't get the stars anyways so it was useless. Again, nothing big. Good game and keep making.

linkage001 responds:

Yes it was getting a little laggy, but I found a way of fixing that.

About the lose-life + explosion problem I will put a limiter to control that. About getting the star when you are invulnerable, it could be done, but the game would became much easier, I will try changing the game-play a little so it does not become so frustrating when that happens.

Thank you for your review, it was great!

its a good game

but when it gets hard, it literally becomes impossible to avoid some planets..

Good

Nice game, quite a bit of fun. I'll definitely revisit this one to play again.

not bad

Dunno if it was just my comp, but the game seemed mildly laggy. kind of messed me up. that aside, a pretty good first shot. I like the idea of having the stars give lives to even out the spending of them to use the explosion, but perhaps the explosion could be made to hit in a more round area? the way it exploded gave me trouble when i was trying to get at stars without moving in front of a speeding planet.

linkage001 responds:

I will try to make it round.
