Edit: I managed to fit another scene into this without going over the limit. So the episode is going to be split into 2 parts which is much less than I originally anticipated.

Part 1 of the first episode.

Well I had typed out a massive commentary then my browser closed and I apologize but my patience is dead. It was a long work day for me.

Anyway, moving on.

I apologize for the audio quality, I was new to the program when I first started Flash in December. For the NG version I had to lower the quality of the audio as well as the images. I just ask you all to bear with it, I know it's rough. I have a better version that is the entire episode including the opening and ending on my production site.

Along the way I've gotten a lot of tips from friends of the trade and I learned a lot more about optimization so the file won't be so big. So for the first episode it had to be broken down into parts, once again I apologize. The 2nd episode is under way and the audio quality is already much better and leveled and the art and animation is much cleaner and smoother (pencil tool ftw).

With that disclaimer out of the way I hope you enjoy this minus the short comings.

Short Synopsis: Based loosely on the novel series of the same name. Futuristic war feel, the events in the anime happen after the 3rd book "Shattered Heaven Episode III: Serenade for the Winds." Both Earth and Mars are rebuilding under a new leadership known as the United Generation of World and is headed by a single man named Gail Contadino. 2 years after the end of the war mysterious deaths continue to occur, namely of some of the most skilled Mechanical Frame pilots from both sides. Focus at first is on the main characters of my novel and how they are dealing with the aftermath of the war and eventually them becoming targeted by this unknown source.

This is the prologue to the first season and actually does not happen until later on.

Nicely done

the background art was beautifully done and its obvious you put a lot of work into this. the Voices were out of sync but that can be fixed very quickly. i hope to see more soon

AdamTilford responds:

Thanks. I think it's cuz the file's so big and even with the preloader some frames get dropped.

I'd suggest going to my website and watching the whole thing, the voices aren't out of sync on that one.

The 2nd episode won't have this problem, I learned a lot about optimizing the audio and just making things compact. So it'll be smaller, cleaner and smoother animation.

Still, this episode wasn't bad for a first shot. Thanks for taking the time to review, I appreciate it.

A breath of fresh air!

Nice work, man. It's refreshing to see some animation that doesn't rely on fart, gay or DBZ related sources to tell a story. Unfortunately, I had to give you an "eight" for two reasons: One, the issue with the voices going out of sync with the characters when they were talking especially towards the end; and two would be the use of photograph picture backgrounds in the beginning of the movie. It came off bit a strange.

I know drawing city landscapes can be difficult but it's better than using photos because it melds much better with hand drawn animation. But anyway, good job.

AdamTilford responds:

Hahaha thanks man! Unfortunately the major audience of NG looks for those types of things. And as such they overrun the portal. Yeah, the file was so big that I had to cut them down a lot, and I think because of it some of the syncing got whack. Each scene was an individual FLA and I had to put them together to put them on NG. Check out the full version on my site it has everything including the opening and ending and the voices don't go out of sync.

Yeah I went back to drawing backgrounds. I just started when I did this part so I was shy when it came to backgrounds. But that's the only occurance, I'll be drawing everything.

Thanks again, I appreciate it.

Good

The animation could be better but the flash is good overall and it has a TV series feeling

AdamTilford responds:

Thanks, yeah I was still getting the hang of the program. It gets better at the end of the episode in PT.2 That was when I was starting to get comfortable with it.

So the 2nd episode is prime to be so much better and smoother.

Was gonna be a 7

You have promise. Wonderful designs and graphics, but work on the animation please?

AdamTilford responds:

Yeah this isn't what I can do currently. As the episode progress it gets better. This episode was kept simple so I could get used to animating in Flash. The 2nd one is already much better on all front, audio, art, and smoothness.

This part was done months ago, I really wanted to go back at first and redo the walking animations, and do the city backgrounds but I chose not to because if I kept going back to redo things to make them smooth then I'd never get anything done lol.

hmmm

Great graphics and quality i like it but once it looked at the screen. the whole creen turned grey and nothing came up for few minutes and i tred playing it and nothing came up =[ but till 8/10
