Ball (personal challenge)

Author Comments

I gave myself a challenge. I am happy with my reciprocation to the challenge. (I do this to help perfect my skills as an artist.) Mind you, this is very simplistic at first appearance, but I felt I should share this due to my satisfaction with the following results. There are 4 things to look for:

Scene 1 (Ball is bouncing)

1) Acceleration / deceleration of ball due to gravity.

2) Attention to light direction and synchronization of shadow to complete the illusion that the ball is actually rising and falling. (The thump that the ball makes is actually me hitting my knee (but not too hard) with a fist.)

Scene 2 (Ball is rolling)

3) The illusion that the ball is actually rolling. In FLASH, the ball and shadow are just being resized over time, but the VOIT logo (being animated) completes the effect.

4) Again, deceleration. The ball slows before stopping. (..and as an added detail, the sheen on the ball makes it spiffy.)

Amazing Phisics!

I wanna buy that ball! You're an inspiration to meh!

Not good.

Yey! You're proud of yourself for making something like this, but why bother submitting it on The Portal where it serves no purpose but to wallow in the mire of the lowest ranked entries on the Portal? Put everything you have learned here to a more practical use. Make a story, no matter how short. Make a game. Spend more time honing your skills and then submit an entry that will blow a lot of others away.
