13th flash
BTW This is a short, so don't be suprised.

I almost wanted to insert some Tan Dun music, but decided not to since he's chinese.
I couldn't find any suitable music, so I decided to make my own. I had to crach the oriental 5 scale notation, you wouldn't believe how easy it is =P

This is actually played on an acoustic guitar at the bridge and distoreted with the computer. Anyway if you like it I plan to submit more music for flashes (not just Japanese) on my audioportal.

Enough about the music, it's no big deal, this flash is a samurai duel how I've always wanted to see it, in a big grass field with two lone souls, raising up tention, until the final blow. I hope you'll enjoy it!

PS
Samurai fights did not last 5 or 10 min like Hollywood wants you to believe. They were mostly one or two blows followed by a swift and honorable DEATH. So take that in consideration when writing a review ;)

And keep an open mind =P

Funny as hell

at first i thought it was going to be a boring thing just watching the sun rise ect. then see them talking and i start cracking up but what made me laugh the most was the miniuture song afterwords lol.

MarkArandjus responds:

Big in Japan by Alphaville was actually a song our English teacher showed us for an exercise once, turns out Guano apes made a cover, but I actually like the original, glad it made you laugh, it's good to know it was good for something xD

lolz >_<

omg so funny. in the beginning it looked just like there was going to be a big fight, then that happend:P just 1 thing. the scabbards normally doesnt stick out to the back like that. it would be really anoying to fight that way-_- but overall nice. keep up the good work and make more:P

MarkArandjus responds:

"then that happend:P"
Hahaha

I know they don't stick out, but TBH... I was too lazy to animate them throwing them away XD

Hehe

Graphics: The graphics were awesome. The upcoming sun, the clouds and the redish sky looked wonderful. The two characters were nicely drawn and animated as well. My only complaint is that the swordstrikes didn´t look too spectacular, but I guess you wanted to make it look as realistic as possible.

Sounds/Music: I think it´s cool that you made the music for this yourself. And it sounded really good too. The characters had good voices and the "ehyou"-like sound when the sun went down quickly made me laugh :) There´s nothing that can really improve when it comes to sounds.

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. It was a very good and funny movie in my opinion, even though it was kinda short. I do have a last small suggestion and that is that you should translate the japanese text to english, especially in the final screen. I know that button probably says replay, but just make it a bit clearer for all of us who don´t speak japanese.

MarkArandjus responds:

Ahhh, bless the review club, you guys really make good ones ^_^
I am satisfied with an 8/10 or 4/5!

As for the text , it's nonsense XD Well, the three characters at the beginning mean F O H, I just used a Japanese like font. Also I'm glad the sound didn't distress, it was all recorded with my crappy cellphone :)

Thank you very much for your reviews, you honor me haha

(title in work)

^^Good Points^^
A funny little short. It started out with a very serious tone to it, as if it were a real samurai fight. The graphics were very good, smooth animations. You added a good sense of humor to this, I liked it.

^^Needs Improving^^
The ending didn't really satisfy. Definitely needs a little bit more to it and some kind of ending that will wrap it up better.

MarkArandjus responds:

Sorry about the ending, I understand it didn't satisfy, but it's what the flash is all about.

Thank you very much for your review!

I jumped the wrong way

I thought that they'd both drop, which would have been an adequate punchline for such a poeticly laid out piece. I loved the detail on the sillouettes, especially the fly :)

It just goes to show what a good background colour selection can do for an animation such as this.

Good work, I'm looking forward to seeing some of your other pieces.

MarkArandjus responds:

Boy do I love the review request club ^__^

Thanks! And strangely enough I'm really glad peopel notice that lil fly, it's the the icing on a donut, the cherry on teh cream, the lil extra mile =P

Also I'm honored you like the composition, I have since always believed simplicity will prevail over complacancy :P
