Keep up the work
I really like your optimism in your review responses, that'll get you far!
I don't think this was good, though, so I'll give you some pointers for the next one:
- Make it faster. A four word phrases does not have to be on screen for 5 seconds. I don't want to see Mario standing still for 3 seconds until an enemy appears. Etcetera. It needs to be very dynamic, otherwise it won't stand out.
- Use way, way more sprites. Have as many characters of SMW as possible pop their head around the door sometime. Since there are so many Mario-visits-Bowser flashes out there, your best bet at originality is to put lots of thought into the details. Make around 20 tiny side-stories that can be shown in a few seconds. Then make Mario run past, and ta-dah: you included it into the main story.
- You use good music, listen to it well and see if there are elements that can interact with the images - for example, a goombah moving to a melody, a thwomp falling down on the beat, etcetera.
- Overall, make it as smooth and impressive as possible. With so many people using this idea for a flash, you gotta aim for top-quality. I'd watch a lot of the Mario spoofs that are rated high, to see what you have to compete with.
Good luck!
