The haiku is dedicated to the weather in Glasgow last Wednesday.

I enjoy reading all reviews and will respond and rate all reviews.

This took around 12 hours. 7-ish hour drawing, 5-ish putting it together in Flash.

I thought it would be a lot less...

Anyway, this is an attempt to do animation on paper (sun zooming in, leaves blowing). I don't have a lightbox or anything, so it was really hard to see through below when there was much detail. (i.e. with the leaves.)

I had to keep lifting up the paper, check underneath. I didn't really leave room for the text.

I'm gonna see if I can get a lightbox without spending too much. I'd really like to try my hand at paper animation again.

"The sun pours. Air moves.
Shadows and lights play on leaves -
Born a month ago."

minor edit: changed a full stop to a dash.

Looks good

I liked how you actually drew your artwork out on paper, kinda gives a feel like ya actually cared about your project. But man.. Haikus? Well...I supposed a little culture is good for me.

Glad you approve. I like drawing on paper, though it is harder.

Haikus can be great. Check out Machi Tawara.

Stay funky!

Something new is always nice to see. Its refreshing. I'm not into poetry and understanding it but it was nice. I liked the music but it could have been longer. I have noticed that alot of the flashes coming in are kinda short. But yours is definety the better.

I'm sorry for the bad spelling.

LuckyLollipopLad responds:

Your spelling is perfect. Your grammar isn't though, but I'm guessing English isn't your first language? Don't worry - you seem more than able to make yourself easily understood.

It couldn't have been any longer really - a haiku is a certain number of syllables and to add another haiku would dilute the potency of this one, whilst adding any more animation would distract too much from the words, I feel.

Thanks for the review though.

Stay funky!

I've never seen a flash like that. Maybe i'm a Newgrounds newb, but hey, this impressed me. Good job! Coulda been a bit longer. Maybe 2 haiku instead of one?

LuckyLollipopLad responds:

Haikus are celebrated in Japan BECAUSE they're short. You need to condense your thoughts into a few syllables.

Of course, I'm pretty much cheating by using gfx/sound to further illustrate the mood.

But I honestly think that putting in 2 haikus would just weaken it. Instead, I'll just try and improve other aspects next time around.

Glad you enjoyed what it was though.

could've been more specific?

Great movie for a stress reliever and it uses a true haiku!

wow. im thoroughly impressed with this flash. i could not have guessed it would turn out so well. i loved your style. the blended drawings were spectacular, and the way you made the transitions so fluid were great. your drawing style is nice, so that pretty much accounts for graphics also. good, tranquil sound. perfect timing for me cause im getting ready for bed soon. obviously no stuff like violence.

really enjoyed the peacefulness of the entire flash. it really helped calm me down cause i was in a bit of a bad mood. i may have to come back and watch this again...and again and again.

8/10 and 5/5. loved it. hope to see more soon.

LuckyLollipopLad responds:

Cheers man. I better get to bed myself...

Glad it helped calm you down. I couldn't have hoped for a better reception.

I'd like to do another haiku animation, but I'll try and make the animation even smoother.

More bed-time fodder for you. :-)

Btw, I give your review 7ish.

It's really great to hear it released some of your aggro. When you praise the blended drawings though, I'm unsure which ones you're on about.

Night night.
