This is a piece I've started working on for my Thesis (just the introduction). It is the first time I've used flash and any suggestions would be really helpful.

I'm not entirely sure what to think of it
It is really odd. It seems like it almost has meaning to it, like it might somehow represents left brained thinking and right brained thinking, but not quite. The animation is very good and the music is a good choice for it, but I don't really understand it.
It shows promise
In some strange way, I think that, given the proper tools and time, you could become a professional. For now, focus on your drawing style. It should fit more with the images (Try practicing with the alpha of colors). Maybe you could try making a movie clip (it needs little story) for either experimental or trance music (it seems to fit your style).
