Here is its eulogy, a collection of the kind words written about it while still among the living. They shall live on forever in its place.

Dunjin is my take on Cactus and Arthur Lee's Dungeon. The story is changed but the game stays true to its original ways: difficult retro platforming.

Arrows to move.
Z to jump.

Reviews

Could've been it's own game.

I truly liked this game, it had some pretty decent platforming and overall was fun to play, all the rooms worked well and death wasn't a pain, so pretty good gameplay and design-wise.

But sadly, the fact that it copies the art style of the original game, and really does little to make something out of what the original was giving you to copy is where this downfalls. Now i'm not saying copying is great, but you just could've done it a bit better.

Like i said, the platforming was well done, and you've shown before that your art is good, and since the level design was fairly different from the original, you probably could've taken out the things that made this dungeon, and truly made something your own,

urghhhhh

how slow do you want to make it? seriously, this made me sleepy.

the frustration of dungeon without the aha moment

as one of the creators of the original "dungeon" upon which this is based, i sort of don't really think this works. in the original, the entire concept of the game was framed as a "tragedy" (as it was part of a "tragedy" competition), with a meta-tragedy being created in the discussion of the game, as a result of the twist (the game playing differently on different computers, causing misunderstandings and contention between players).

with neither the element of tragedy nor a place for discussion about the game to occur (which was what made the original dungeon a worthwhile experiment), the twist kind of just falls flat, doubly so because it's exactly the same concept and graphic wise as the original game.

basically what you get instead is a game that's got all of the frustrations of the original "dungeon," but none of the things that made people appreciate the trick afterwards -- leaving you with more or less a huge "fuck you" to your players.

Now that I think about it, you're right. If I'm basing this game off of another, it should somehow tie in with the original concept. Thanks for you input, rating and Dungeon. :)

Loved It :D

Challenging game, but It was enjoyable. :)

It has potential but...

The controls are so unresponsive. It keeps running after you let go and jumps far too late. Needs a lot of work.

<deleted> responds:

Hmm. That may be your computer\lag. It seems to be responsive for me. Sorry about that.
