Here is its eulogy, a collection of the kind words written about it while still among the living. They shall live on forever in its place.

***VIEWING IN FULLSCREEN STRONGLY RECOMMENDED***

The Boy with Nails for Eyes is an independent motion comic, set in a grimy, grey little seaside town trapped by a brick-and-iron wall of factories. The story follows a young boy as he undertakes a quest that will draw him to the town's knotted heart, and into the domain of the shadowy hunger that stalks its streets.

The prologue tells of the days, unknown years ago, when a murder of crows swarmed upon the town. Haunted by their cries from daybreak to dark, the townsfolk experience strange visions...

The story is best viewed in FULLSCREEN MODE, so that the text is clearly legibile without having to use the zoom function. Full instructions on viewing the story are given in the loading screen.

A lofi version of the comic, featuring the images and text only, is available on my website (www.basement-garden.co.uk), which is linked from my profile. Also available are wallpapers and music downloads, plus the next chapter of the story itself (I'll be posting a Newgrounds version of this fairly soon, but my focus at the moment is on a comic commission, and on getting the art for the third chapter finished!)

Really pleased with the response so far - thanks to everyone for the encouragement and feedback. [In fact, I'm now quite overwhelmed by the level of response - thanks again to everyone who reviewed, whether you liked it or not. And cheers to Newgrounds for featuring this! I'll try to reply to everyone but I can't promise I will - if you really want to get an answer, the best idea is to email me through my website.]

I always intended the comic to be viewed fullscreen (I even considered making it obligatory, or automatically going to fullscreen when the comic starts, but I don't like that idea any more than, probably, anyone else does), but I do hear everyone on the text.

Later stages of the story will be a little heavier on the text (which is why I had to go for a small font size from the get-go) so in all honesty I think the text may well stay as it is, for the sake of consistency (and at the risk of pissing off a few people). Again, I *strongly* suggest *fullscreen viewing*, if the text is too small for you; unfortunately the highest file dimensions allowed by Newgrounds is even smaller than the original file dimensions(1060px/745px), so for this reason fullscreen is an even better idea from my point of view.

Cheers

Colored me intrigued , this has potentiale.

The details and symbolism you have put in it seem not to only took effort and details but also thought and reflexion.

Well Done

I really liked it.
I'm going to go with the guess that it has something to do with colonization.

The war machines seemed to be made of churches. This would imply that religions start wars. I disagree with this statement, but I'm putting my opinions to the side as far as my rating goes, and giving a 10/10 because it was deep, meaningful, and all together well-done.

Amazing

I love the art form, the first image of the pair of mechanized buildings was drawn in such detail that I bet if you printed it out on a poster and you would be able to distinguish the people and the homes.

I love the story and the symbolism is well done, doing something like this doesn't only take experience but literary talent.

I watched/read the whole thing in full screen so the "small writing" wasn't a problem, but I would like to see an option where we could still be able to read it while it is windowed.

Good job, I hope to see more from you.

It's makes me grin when I remember how long it took to do that image. I wanted to make the behemoths as big as possible, most of all for my own satisfaction. I run a resolution of 1600x1200 - when the image is zoomed to 100% in Photoshop, the larger of the two behemoth's head wust about fills the screen. One day I want to get it printed out full size, but I reckon the walls I've got now literally might not be tall enough...

The zoom option was intended to allow people to read it in windowed mode - I think I'm going to work on a version where dragging is possible while zoomed, which would be an obvious improvement - watch this space.

And thanks!

My Interpretation

Correct me if I am wrong but I definitely see a banality of evil in a sense. These villagers know something is wrong, and that evil is present, but they stand in fear, they do not try to combat the evil, they allow it to exist...The coming of the giants represents WOMD's. We know they are being made, although for the most part they are well hidden. The moment they appear, however, the effect is instantly disastrous, no matter who wins the "war" mankind will be doomed by its own creations...

I dunno, just what I saw

<deleted> responds:

That's a fair interpretation, sethorien - the inaction of the villagers was definitely something that I wanted to communicate, so glad you picked up on that!

This is one of the best things ever.

You've greatly inspired me on this day. GREATLY inspired me on this day. Thanks for sharing the wonderment of what goes on in your head. This is over the moon.

<deleted> responds:

Cheers very much - and you're welcome
