Riku was originally chosen for the keyblade cause if anyone remembers correctly it was Riku who saw the key hole on the door to their world once Riku had fallen into Darkness however the keyblade then went to sora who lost it to Riku later on because of that fact now Sora Got it back because of
A. the strength of Soras Heart
B. Sora's heart was strengthened through his travels to other worlds.

the keyblade chose riku because riku's heart was the strongest. when riku gave in to the darkness, the keyblade chose the person who has the next best heart, whom we now know as sora. riku got his keyblade from the realm of darkness because that's where he resided. that's about it.

Jaller333, riku is the original keyblade master but he had turned evil before he could get it so sora filled in but riku got it in hollow bastion becase he is the true keyblade master but then i came back to sora because his heart became super strong and rikus grew weaker at the sound of his confidence while holding a stick .

and than riku had a hissy fit and met the cloak guy, who i think is ansem but am not sure of..than riku got his own keyblade without a keychain and got possesed by ansem the wise
