The Flower

The flower

There was a flower growing in a garden, its pedals aimed at the sun. One day, very suddenly a pedal fell from the flower. The flower took note of the fallen pedal, but was too busy basking in the sunlight to care. A week passed and the flower was as beautiful as ever, but just as suddenly two pedals fell from the flower. Now the flower was worried, was there something wrong? Why did two pedals fall. Just as the flower was considering what had happened the suns mouth opened wide and began to speak. “Cover yourself up flower” the sun said, “your imperfections aren’t welcome here”. The flower sank back, terrified. The flower began to pull at its head, ripping its pedals out one by one. Perfectly good pedals falling to the ground with a soft resonant sound. The flower was disgusting. The clouds closed in and a storm began and the sun was nowhere to be found. As the rain came down the disheveled flower sank further and further towards the ground until it was indistinguishable from the dirt surrounding it. All that was left was the recently plucked pedals, staying perfectly still, awaiting the promise of life, but as the days went by soon the pedals were reduced to dirt and the flower was no more.

I encourage the few people who see this to interpret these four tracks however you like. Each one of these was composed at certain points in my life, I know they aren't great but they are part of me.
