My 100 Favorite Games

At some point in the past, Newgrounds stopped letting us sort our favorites. (Presumably so users would feature an ever-changing cast of new submissions of their profiles, rather than their all-time favorites.)

These are my all-time favorites submissions to the Games portal - just because I can.

Sadly, I had to (re-)create this list mainly from memory. My memory is far from perfect when it comes to remembering the tens of thousands of "small" games I've played. My apologies to all the hard-working game developers whose games have slipped my memory and did not make the list. As another unfortunate drawback from the years between me playing these games and the present is that most of the games on this list were made with flash. (The "most authentic" way of playing them might either be in an antiquated browser with original flash or just downloading them and playing them on your PC. Where you still have flash installed... For reasons... You maniac... ;) )

While all of these games are entertaining, not all of them might be art - but some of them are.

And yes: I unironically think that You Have To Burn The Rope is one of the best games of all time due to its clarity of instructions, low barrier to entry (both in previous gaming experience and skill), very rewarding ending, low demand on time investment, and its replayability. That game was forged from pure joy. Somehow.

Enjoy, but maybe just put it into your bookmarks for later, when you have the headspace for it.

Special mentions go to Pico VS Peter The Ant, which perfectly conveys the look and feel of early flash games without being made in flash. Seriously: Try it, it's very short. If you lived through that era yourself, playing this game will make you feel as if you just traveled back through time. *vworp vworp vworp*

Please Note: Right now this is a "Top 97". I could not add 3 games in good conscience, just to fill this list to capacity. I'm sure I'll find some worthy candidates during the next months.
