Well I was surfing the web and I came across this picture. It was a screenshot of the GTA 3 beta but also if you look you'll see a weird looking PS2. Do you think it was what the PS2 was going to look like at first? Discuss.

It doesn't have the Dreamcast label on it, so it looks like a Sega computer.

The dreamcast logo is under the open GD-rom drive. Also that was the PS2 developer unit.

Looks like Sega failed attempt at the computer. Or developers were too lazy/cheap to design a consolesque system.
Yes I think suicide is funny and I am sick of pretending its not.

Well, it was the devkit, it had an HDD and all kinds of testing shit. It also had a GD-rom writer too.

Why would they need to? Only games developers are ever going to see the devkit versions, it's not like they give a shit what the console itself looks like.
That said, the X360 devkit is just a black Xbox 360, like the Elite.

Well actually, there was a Dreamcast devkit that sold on ebay for about 500 dollars. Assembler games bought it and they also got the GD-rom writer with a shit load of blank GD-rom disks
Its called a Dev Kit. Basically makes it better.

This thread is ancient. Since it's been bumped, and I still exist. I've learned quite a bit since this post and started into game development myself. I know now it's a PS2 TOOL system, in fact I own a PS3 TOOL system myself now within my own personal collection. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
