can you take a user id# and backtrack to a username?
That's actually quite possible using the old review page links.

Replace "XXXXX" with whatever id you want, and you'll go right to the review section of that user's userpage (it works whether they have reviews or not). If it redirects to the front page instead, it means the account doesn't exist.
Thanks, man. It's good to know that workaround still works. I need to at least use that link with all the profiles on my spreadsheet just to verify names before I hit 10k posts so I'm READY for the final pentalist update, at least.
Thanks for the super-link-filled response to my "WHO IZ TEH JAMROCK?" question in that other thread, too. I'll check 'em out later and ejudicate my mind a bit later tonight, if I feel so inclined.
Oh, but speaking of user ID#, I meant to mention that I noticed the fannet list still shows the user id#s of the people on it... but that's no way to find people for the pentalist. I can't just go combing trhough 50 users at a time by who has the most popular fannet sites... that won't correspond to who has 2 of 5 stats over 10k.... sadly. #;-}>
And as I found out a few weeks ago, trying to use those old user ID# profile links just takes you to your own profile/account page or whatever. Which BLOWS HARD.
Yeah, that's odd. I figure if they fixed the review links the profile links wouldn't be any more difficult.
I think I read a post by liljim or another admin where they just basically made it sound like username = all we need now, so screw user id#. And that makes me sad, because I love user id#s. I think BOTH should re-direct to the same profiles, but oh well.
I'll just do a mass find/replace on a text file filled with all the old user id#-filled profile URLs of the people on my pentalist where I replace everything up to the id# with the review link you pasted up there... and then use that new list of URLs to find out the usernames. Should work lickity-split fast, relatively speaking. Just wish I didn't have like 400 people to do it with. Grumble grumble. #;-}>
