But does clearing flagged movies actually affect BP scores, anyway? I know it's supposed to, according to the FAQ, but I've voted on many movies that were flagged, and I don't think I picked up many points (if any) when the flags were cleared this week. Congrats to MPA, Denvish, bila, Recon, X-Naut, Wylo, leeboy, schneelocke, and Punisher. You've taken me down from #2 to #11 between your combined efforts... but I'm glad my time in the top 10 lasted as long as it did. I'm actually quite stunned that after retiring on 10/10/2005... that I was able to remain in the top 10 for nearly a year.

Now I can concentrate on my gfoxclock goals. He's just hit 2k b/p... and while it wasn't quite at the even 1000/1000 split I would have liked... there's plenty of time later on to even the blams and saves out better. For now, I'm aiming for the 1500/1500 split, then the 2000/2000... and some day, the 5000/5000 split + nearing the top 300 b/p.

It would be awesome to get gfoxclock into the top 500 b/p first of all... and then onto this list. Assuming it's still going by then.

It's because of how many authors were submitting flash there for awhile. When the 50 most recent list is either mostly filled with UJ or COMPLETELY filled with UJ flash, it's no surprise that even a large amount of UJ voters isn't able to get all of those dozens and dozens of UJ flash up to 200 votes within an hour or too.

It seems like it's just the way the portal runs nowadays... for there to be 10-20 truly recent UJ submissions, and then another 5-10 UJ entries that were submitted 3-4 hours ago. Of course, all of those at the bottom of the pile tend to be protects.

And since I tend to vote from the bottom of the UJ list up, that explains why my blams have stalled out on gfoxclock and I seem to be getting nothing but saves lately, hence my 1100 protects/900 blams split.

I really should start voting from the top of the UJ list down, at least while my blams are this far behind my saves, until they get closer to even.

*nod* A lot of that has to do with the change in the blam threshold. Stuff that doesn't go over 0.5 gets blammed very quickly -- often after 50-60 views, which is probably 30-40 actual votes, 50 tops. That means the top of the list moves extremely quickly. At the same time, the file size was doubled, which means the bottom of the list often moves much more slowly -- plus people are focusing their attention on the stuff that's new and fresh, so they can get their points before the quick blams disappear.

And since I tend to vote from the bottom of the UJ list up, that explains why my blams have stalled out on gfoxclock and I seem to be getting nothing but saves lately, hence my 1100 protects/900 blams split.

I used to vote that way, but now that the blam threshold is so much lower for the quick blams I scan the very top of the list for ~50k flashes that say, "i no itz mi frist flahs an it sux but voet 5 neway!" and watch those first -- but often they're blammed already by the time I finish watching them, because I don't autovote. Then I go to the bottom of the list and work my way back up, reloading every minute or two to watch for new ~50k stuff.

It's still hard for me to get blams, though, no matter what; I just don't pay enough attention to the portal to catch the fast movers.
