If I were to purchase an audio CD in digipak format, would I be able to transfer it to a jewel case WITH the cover art, or will it be forever stuck in that ugly format?

Depends if the digipak format has a normal CD booklet in it. Some don't, and some have the booklet attached to the digipak case.
