The Multi-Author system has been one of the most requested features in NG history, so it brings me great pleasure to announce its arrival!
This system has had many setbacks and delays due to the load it can potentially create on the server. James has worked around this, however, and everything should run just fine.
For your first example of the system in action, check out Alien Hominid. My name is now listed alongside Synj in the main author credits! Additionally, if you view my user profile, you will now see Alien Hominid, along with many other games I previously was not credited for because I was part of a team.
This is a very exciting time for Flash authors who have been working in teams. If you have previously formed a joint user account in order to represent a group, you can now go back to crediting your individual user accounts. Be sure to email me if you wish to do this, as I can transfer the credit!
The new system may seem a bit confusing at first, but we will work to simplify it, even if the changes are mostly cosmetic. In order to avoid invalid credits, James has built a "buddy list" system. Here is an example of how it works:
Synj logs into his Grounds Gold account.
Synj clicks the link for PORTAL BUDDIES in his edit menu.
Synj types "TomFulp" in the field to add a new buddy.
TomFulp receives a notification email (just to let him know).
TomFulp logs into his Grounds Gold account.
TomFulp clicks the link for PORTAL BUDDIES.
TomFulp clicks the link to view his PENDING BUDDIES.
He sees Synj on the list, with a checkbox.
TomFulp checks the box and clicks the link for ACCEPT USER.
The merger is complete, and TomFulp and Synj are now buddies. But there is another step, the final credit...
Synj uploads Alien Hominid.
Synj logs into his Grounds Gold account.
Synj clicks the link for PORTAL SUBMISSIONS in his edit menu.
Synj clicks ALIEN HOMINID.
The edit page now includes his buddy list.
Synj checks the box next to TomFulp on his buddy list.
Synj can credit up to four buddies from his list.
The process is complete, and TomFulp is now credited alongside Synj! It sounds complex, I know, but you will get the hang of it. If we didn't have this level of security, each of us could find ourselves attached to god-knows-what. :)
If you have other authors to credit, give this new system a try! We will be EXTREMELY ATTENTIVE to feedback on this, so let us know how you think the system could be improved!
