Um Guys I have a question!

my usernames about to change and I wanted to know if it's too late to notify psychogoldfish of this change?

I've been umming and erring about changing it and I've come up with a name in preference to the one I'm currently using! due to the fact I don't annihilate anything, and was a tad naff :(

it's not a drastic change, but a change none the less,

so psychogoldfish if you're still here can you respond to this message and I'll notify you of this change and can you make the correction to the list you have!

if it's not too late can you reply to this and then I'll PM you with the notification, change will be following shortly!

grrrrr

Reviews in no particular order.

OCON

The main chorus was released in the very beginning, which may be good or bad. It fades in, and I really liked that. You also di v ided it into 2 parts, one pretty basic, and one with a semi-jazzy feel. The second part was great, seeing that you have loads of originality.
I like the drum upbeatings, they made the song extra good.
I liked it a lot, and it was maybe the most unique remix for now.
Great work!

Originaliy: 10 (UNIQUE)
Diversity: 9 (That`s a lot!)
Clarity: 8 (Not the best, but it`s great, still)
Effort: 8.5 (Here comes the hard work!)
Catchiness/Appeal: 8 (Here comes the fun ;)
Overall: 8.8 (Very nice)

Adjusted MRAC score: 74.8

The start turned out really bad, more like a less lucky ripoff of Sadspoons submittion.
You aret he only one until now who have submitted a rocked remix, and it actually went pretty well!
But the clarity here, well, wasn`t good at all. There`s clipping all the way along, but I don`t know how you could remove that.
I get he feeling this was really straghtforward and fast, and yes you said it was...
I didn`t like nor dislike this. Good work, but it could have been improved.

Originality: 5 (Not much)
Clarity: 3.5 (Nôn)
Diversity: 5.5 (A bit, but not much)
Effort: 6.5 (You have worked here)
Catchiness/Appeal: 6 (Could replay some times but it gets boring)
Overall: 5.5 (This was under average)

Adjusted MRAC score: 28.2

Well, this wasn`t the most original song of them, it doesn`t seem much different from the original except for the change into an amp.
You like effects too, I see.
But too bad they make the song clear as motor oil (That`s black, right?) and sounds really weird, in a bad way. There was a little part in the song with only the bassline, when I thought: Oh, my ears feel much better now! But too bad you went on with the bad-ass synthamp again! >:-(
I didn`t like this song, it could have been improved quite a lot, but it`s really fancy, though.

Originality: 5.5 (Rock, rock rock, cock (I like rock, but well...)
Clarity: 3 (HARSH)
Diversity: 4 (More diversity please)
Effort: 7 (I see much working...)
Catchiness/appeal: 6.5 (I could play this a lot)
Overall: 5 (You need more clarity and less monotyphicality)

Adjusted MRAC score: 28

You are the only one who have submitted a party-ish track!
It went really cool, though. I liked the style, it was really original, but the upbeating and offtoning in the end didn`t appeal much to me.
The voices? Fair enough, added a nice style to it, but they are really low and it`s hard to understand what they say, so it`s like I try more to hear what they say, and that takes some focus away from the song.
At 0:39, you did something which I liked VERY much. You toke a different variation! So it doesn`t get as dull as listening to the same stuff all the way through. You have the most diversity-filled track in this remix contest, great work, I loved this.

Originality: 9.5 (Holy fuck, didn`t see that coming)
Clarity: 8.5 (great, but there are places...)
Diversity: 9.9 (This had most of it)
Effort: 9 (OH, there`s work here)
Catchiness/Appeal: 10 (Play it more PARTY PLZ)
Overall: 9.5 (A great finale to this contest)

Adjusted MRAC score: 89.9 (Officially highest scoring)

I liked this, but I don`t think it was especially outstanding, it`s more like one of the many songs thrown in in this contest.
(More like doing it for the money and not the music)
Too bad it`s way too loud, and therefore it fuzzes.

It`s a good beginning, the beginning was what I liked most.
But too bad that the beginning isn`t all.
You put in a lot of effort in this, but I doubt it did work out.

The place the track is changes from the far left part to the far right, and then to the middle. That can be really annoying if you`re a headphone fanatic like me.

Originality: 4 (Really anonymous)
Clarity: 6 (Fzz, not good!)
Diversity: 7 (It was much diversity here)
Effort: 8.5 (You put in a lot of effort in it)
Catchiness/Appeal: 6.5 (Couldn`t listen to this much without it geting annoying)
Overall: 5.8 (An OK track, but it needs more)

Adjusted MRAC score: 39.2

The-Tasteless-Saga

Shit! It sounds like a totally different song in the beginning!
However, I will accept this sinc I heared this by the tropmet orchestra afterwards.

The man voice was ok, but a neutral addition which didn`t add more than it toke away. You have all a jazz song needs, but it was poorly written together and at the end it`s more like you misplaced the different parts totally.

The heavy deafy megabass was a really nice addition, and added boosting into it. But I don`t know with the piano, it`s really good but it gets annoying after a while.

The end was sick! This time literally! It made me feel sick and it added a lot of originality to it, but the main point is that... it`s no enjoying listening!

Originality: 9.8 (Shit, what is this!)
Clarity: 3.5 (A lot of noticable clipping in this.)
Diversity: 6.5 (Had diversity, but feels really short)
Effort: 4.5 (More effort could have been added to this.
Catchiness/Appeal: 3.5 (Insanely annoying the fifth time)
Overall: 4.8 (The structure was awful. You were unlucy with this)

Adjusted MRAC score: 25.7

Attemptedperfection

(added on since mistake)

Really good work on this. You changed a boring, basic sound to an exciting boss-battle-like experience.
Sounds dramatical yet calm at times. You kept the song at the melody, but made an own variation of it. Fast-paced is good and nothing else.

At the little break, good drum beat-up, and it continues as usual for a while. You made it run into the end without a flaw.
I can`t actually get any negatives about this song, it has what it`s supposed to have. I`ll vote five for this. Really good work!

So if there are any downsides, I would say it`s the clarity, which in the beginning turns out making fuzz, and the tamburine was not necessary.

Originality: 9.8 (Really newthinking and original)
Diversity: 8.5 (A lot of changes within the song)
Clarity: 6.8 (Not the best, but it`s far enough)
Effort: 10 (This seens to have taken a lot of time and is far better than some of your other stuff)
Catchiness/Appeal: 9 (Times played in iTunes: 27)
Overall: 9.5 (An AWESOME remix)
Adjusted MRAC score: 78.5

SineRider

Liked it! I liked how you dragged out the original melody into a long and kinda epic audio. but it was maybe a bit TOO surrounding, in which made the song scurry. Very good touch into it, I`d never thought of hearing this when I heard the original. It`s like going in a glassy castle. Not directly diverse, but what can you do about that. It`s actually very diverse compared to what it`s supposed to be. The song could have been beated up a little as it`s too damn slow.

BUT! I liked how you added the scary mood into it, also the snappy drums going like a cassette. Mood goes up and down in a systematical change, so it`s nice listening.

Originality: 8.5 (Follows the original track more, but it works)
Diversity: 7.5 (Not bad, but could have been more)
Clarity: 6 (Some clipping, but not a lot)
Effort: 7 (You have made a lot better tunes than this)
Cathciness/Appeal: 8.5 (iPod worthy)
Overall: 7 (Could need some work, but it`s good either way)

Adjusted MRAC score: 56.9
=========================

Uh.... Will post the rest in the next post for food.

Response to Mrac06 - November 2006-12-04 13:45:03

So here are the rest.
================
Sadspoon

Well, this is a good one, too.
These drums are good, but they are maybe a bit too loud, and the crazy gone-wild drums kinda overwrites the song.
The bassy synth sounds like it`s taken from a porn movie... And all these synths are nice, but they go harsh over the clarity. I suggest you using different sounding instruments, and not all trancelead-sounding instruments.

You added a nice style on the melody, but I don`t know, it didn`t seem to be enough for my tastes. It`s sure funny to listen to, but I didn`t really like it. Maybe it was the instruments.

Originality: 8.8 (Really original)
Diversity: 8 (Much diversity, much content)
Clarity: 6 (Not bad nor good)
Effort: 9 (This took time)
Cathciness/Appeal: 7.8 (A really great cathcyness)
Overall: 8.5 ( Very nice, but could need somehting more)

Adjusted MRAC score: 63.6

------------
XBrav (NOT highest score, omfg)

This could have been a great track, but it didn`t go as well as I`d expect. It was very slow, and therefore it may sound boring.
The pianos in the start was a neat addition, and you played them really well. The following synth, I though only made it worse. Since it adds a sick (literally) feeling to it, and that really didn`t fit.
Still you have great clarity.

You have done a great switch of it, and you get score for your originality. I loved the beats in the middle. You did great work changing the track into something totally different. But there are some flaws here, which I didn`t like.

Originality: 9.8 (A very, VERY original remix)
Diversity: 7.6 (OK)
Clarity: 10 (Clearer than water)
Effort: 7.8 (Could actually have been rushed, but I don`t think so)
Catchiness/Appeal: 7.8 (Quite good)
Overall: 8.8 (A great track with the little extra)

Adjusted MRAC score: 73
---------------------------
Stealth-Annihilator

Sounds really not so dreamy, but still. You made this sound more like the original, a royal theme with a twist.
Still, you`ve too made it an original and exiting track. The beginning gave me NO idea about what would come later in the track, so I`d say you have a great originality.
You changed the main melody a bit, but I can hear the melody and bassline though.
Well, for the downsides, the orgel-sounding instrument was very loud, and makes the other instruments sounding like more of a soup.
Good work, it`s one of the better remixes here!

Originality: 9 (Different)
Diversity: 6 (A bit, not that much)
Clarity: 9.2 (CLEAR)
Effort: 8.5 (Not rushed)
Catchiness/Appeal: 6 (Not very much, sorry)
Overall: 7.8 (A good and original track)

Adjusted MRAC score: 56.6

-----------
mhb

Effects are fun indeed, but somtimes it turns out making the track really bad. The over-usement of this brass synth made it shimmering, annoying, and also makes the clarity VERY bad.
And why did you use HM`s ChilledMasta as the background? That makes it really weird, and it makes most people think you
steal, maybe you didn`t, seeing that it is somewhat different, but still.

This sounds like screaming and pained people making a synth, and it really didn`t turn out any well. The end was way too abrupt, only to fit the 3-minute limit. I didn`t like this, sorry.

Originality: 7 (Original with those effects)
Diversity: 6 (Somewhat, but not much)
Clarity: 2 (Awful)
Effort: 5 (This needs more work. A lot more.)
Catchiness/Appeal: 2.5 (I wouldn`t bother playing this twice)
Overall: 4 (This needs a lot more)

Adjusted MRAC score: 15.3
----------------------------------------

Then my reviews were posted.

Gongratulations everyone who entered the contest!

There is...

The scores for Originality, Diversity, Clarity and Effort are averaged.
The scores for Catchiness/Appeal and Overall are averaged.

The two averages are then multiplied.

but yeah, it is a bit "rip off"y, I tried to do something original but it turned out to be the same as the others. I'll try to do something better next time around, since it's my first time being in this contest :), Originality next time guaranteed ;).
