Ah sorry I was completely out of line there. I clearly hurt the boy's feelings, I apologise.
I put sarcasm in my sarcasm so I can be rude while being rude.

I wasn't looking for you to feel sorry, I was asking a question. Of course, I was foolish for expecting a mature response on the internet, my mistake. Carry on.
anyone else see this flash ad on newgrounds? I think it's a bit disturbing.
I think that's a bit of a stretch, but I can see what you're saying. I wish I had a copy of those old gaia ads when they were advertising the waterballoon fights, those things were borderline hentai.

Unless they're really short, or VERY catchy, then don't bother I say.
I always just tend to look over them, I'm too impatient.
When I say short, I mean like Meat Boy short.
The intro there went straight to the point,
and didn't bore me for a second.
what

I'm currently working on a game with a friend and I'm dong fully animated and voiced cutscenes. But of course, I've only ever worked on movies before and I don't know if it's going to add to the game or take away from it.
And put a skip button lol.
Haha, no kidding. One thing I always hated when playing games was the really long unskippable cutscenes before an extremely challenging boss.

YES lol.
But hey, if you can make a cutscene worth watching,
then by golly go ahead and do it. I was just saying most
of the time they aren't worth it, so don't let me
limit you if you have some good ideas in mind.
just thought i'd toss that into the salad.
what
I think for more 'cartoony' games or any game with unbelievable proportions etc. like castle crashers, it should have cut scenes using in-game graphics.
However, if you're doing something more detailed, like metal gear solid (lol) then the cut scenes should be detailed and show more detail (typically) than the game graphics.
People can put themselves into cartoony characters easier, and they don't typically want their own image of what the cartoon character looks like, run over by a more detailed animated cut scene. Whereas, if the characters are supposed to represent, spot on, in-game, what they look like in a more realistic setting, by all means animate the cut scenes realistically. It's like FF7 vs Mario. FF7 has simplified game graphics yet detailed cut scenes and mario has more of a style that flows throughout its 3d games (ie. not detailing mario anymore in the cut scenes than in-game).

I agree, and being an animator for more cartoons than games. its natural that in my recent entrance into the flash game world, i was compelled to make epic cutscenes for it. The first game is a launcher game tho (we started before toss the turtle and then it came out, raising the bar, we totally gotta match it lol). So because of that, i may be throwing in 1 cutscene, but not too many. I'm swamped with homework these days and we wanna get it on FGL asap!
Game2 is gonna be so sick, we have the most epic game planned out :D
Lastly, I'll have everyone know that i got new glasses today! Its been the first pair i've owned in about 6 years, i'm near sighted so i got by okay with just squinting, but my friend hooked me up with 700$ glasses for 350$ (she works at lensecrafters)

Whenever ya make original work it's automatically copyrighted - however its a real good idea to copyright your work if ya plan to keep it up and don't want to risk nothin'.
It's real easy too, to copyright. I have to copyright my poetry book too soon.

Warning. Massive Assassins Creed 2 spoiler in that link. It's the end credits and end cutscene to the game. But about four minutes into it, a friend alerted me to this...
Which part of AC2 I wonder?

I don't get it D: Why do you say papervision, unless you're being sarcastic. A lot of games use Flash nowadays, for 2D parts.. I think GTA4 used flash for the internet cafe fake internet pages :p

Crysis used it for all the HUDs/Menus.
And I always thought those other companies ever incorporated Flash into their games...
Flash was originally created for UI so i wouldn't be surprised at all

Where did you read this? The original Flash (aka FutureSplash) was simply created for vector animations. [source]
http://www.scaleform.com/products/gfx
This is one of the most used middleware products out there for professional games nowadays.
Like, every game under the sun uses it, sorta like havok physics.

Those animations were for Websites, aka UI. Animation doesn't have to mean Adam Phillips animation or game animations specifically for entertainment. it is simply moving text around as well, instead of using Java or javascript
Speaking of scaleform, "Glaielform" is coming out pretty good so far
testing on a Super Meat Boy sprite
590 FPS
It's not completely optimized though, I'm sure I can get this to run at 700 in vector mode or 2000+ in bitmap mode
