April Fools...

I would like to take a moment to apologize to everyone. For the past few years NG has always had an April Fools joke, but this year there was nothing. For months in advance I had been tossing around all sorts of great ideas with NG users, but when the final days came I wasn't even around my computer. Now the day has passed and I feel crappy because I broke the tradition.

Sometimes it is tough to stay enthusiastic about NG when it runs like such crap. The MySQL server was pretty trashed over the weekend, but as of this morning everything might actually be fixed and running fine. Hopefully the site will experience less problems today, although I'm sure it will still be slow as usual. Let me know how the site is running for you today!

Even with a T1 at work, I try to get on NG during the day. Imagine it on a 56k... I figure you'll get this sorted. Long live this bitch, we call NG.

We don't mind if you didn't get to play and April Fool's joke on us. In fact, I remember reading that in the past, alot of people got pissed off when you pretended that Marty was running the site. But seriously, it's no problem. We can't begin to understand the stresses of running a site this large, and we are grateful that you done that much already. Thanks for all the hard work Tom!

you aren't alone: nobody, anywhere, at all, did an april fool's joke. at least nobody i ran into. i mentioned it to a couple people, and they said, "oh yeah... it's april fools. huh."

Yom your always talking about how slow your server is and stuff well i have a satlution. I was out looking for a server for my self and i came up http://oicea.com/. It is a server with a T1 for onl;y $300. Flash style is going to have the Subilver summit section just like NG and there useing this server. I didn't get any MySQL errors, but I did have some difficulty logging in, and even though I haven't been on since yesterday afternoon, I was told that I had voted on some movies before...

Yeah. If NG was actually running properly it would be living up to its full potential. Just now, it's totally crippled by all the technical problems...

Actually the site is running pritty fast right now. it's1:07, and it took about 5 seconds to lode the page on a cable modem

The site is running much better. Considering that I have DSL, the site is still running like crap but it is a 100% improvement over the last 5 days. I'm still peeved that I was 3 days away from my next secret game on Wed. and I'm still 2 away now because of not being able to vote. As about the April Fools thing, don't sweat it. I'm just happy the site is running normally again.

I remember 2 years ago, you redesigned the whole site for April Fools, it was great, because I had only just taken notice of the site, and then all the sudden it changed completely! I had a laugh the next day when you said it was a joke and everything had been returned to normal again. Just wanted to let you know that I've had no problems with NG today aside from signing in and voting. All other fuctions seem to be working fine. The voting takes forever but does finally work, however my votes don't count for much since I can't seem to get logged in. 'sigh' No Experience points today... All in all with all the traffic NG gets and the constant coming and going of files and accounts everyday I must say that I'm surprised it works as well as it does, so keep up the good work guys... and don't get discouraged....you'll figure it out

I rarely visit this site anymore, and it does seem to go incredibly slow for me. I'm on a cable modem too. I did notice whenever I came I'd get those damn MySQL errors. None today though, it's still horribly slow though. But uhm, yeah. Just thought I'd say that.

anyway I got 2 mysql errors today. I come here every day(I have about 28k)and its been running fine, its been faster today, but I dont havent gotten more than 1 mysql error per day and today I got 2, i forgot where I think one was voting.
I like the way this place was 2 years ago :)

It's ok Tom - I completely forgot about April Fool's day too! I know how hard it is to have tons of stuff to do and still concentrate on school. Don't let it get you down!
Anyone who is asshole enough to complain about the site obviously has no idea what kind of work goes into something like this. Some people act like you owe it to them to have the site up and running perfectly at all times. Those people are losers with no life and the only reason they are pissed off is that their only source of entertainment is a little too slow for them. Remember - this site is here for you as much as it is for any of us.
Although there have been some slow days lately, the site has been running great for me today. You guys are doing a great job, and I have a great amount of respect for you and all the crap you deal with.

Don't worry about April Fool's day, Tom. It's cool. I figured you didn't do anything unique or special because:

1) It was also Easter Monday. For many, this would be an inappropriate time to upset others.

2) The continual SQL errors were your idea of a joke (which also explains why things are running ideally smooth today, on the day after April 1st).

Keep up the good work. I think I speak for everyone here when I say I appreciate everything you do to make Newgrounds what it is.

The site is a little slow...but faster than ususal. I'm not having trouble loading stuff, so its fine.

A refresh fixed it, and looking at the error it seems it occured simply because the connection dropped, not an error with random entries.

And as for other celebrators, ebay did do something, they fliped the main menu and had some bogus featured stuff, not too tricky really..
