Give me something to draw 2023-11-02 16:11:06

I often find myself feeling like my drawing skills aren't as good as I'd like them to be. I don't think I'm a bad drawer but I certainly have a long ways to go. I read that it's good to draw stuff out of your comfort zone to improve, and that's what this thread is all about: I want you to give me something to draw about.


It could be anything, a video game character, a background, a prop even. So if you want to help me get better, have a tip or two to help me improve or just want your OC drawn hit me up.


Do keep in mind that I might not be able to reach to all suggestions if they come up to be too many. Also I'm fine with drawing whatever but I might refuse to draw something if I find it offensive or in bad taste (If you aren't sure, it's okay to ask). Finally, all criticism is welcome, as long as it's constructive, and any drawing I make derived from this thread will be published here.

as for a suggestion uhhh, draw Lily from Duolingo

tries too hard to be edgy and is blocked by many because he acts rude towards others to feel better about himself.

Oftentimes, when I can't think of anything to draw, I end up drawing sceneries around me or find references for something I want to learn to draw (usually a gun).


One thing I've learned from these drawings is the importance of proportions. Basically, what I've learned is that it helps to constantly compare the sizes of each elements WHILE drawing. For example, when I draw a pistol, I always compare the height of the handle and slide as well as the relationship of the ejection port and the handle. Applying it to characters, you can simply compare the head to the torso. Proportions really does have a significant impact on the final output.


Anyways, redraw this abomination. It's supposed to have a horse head but I'm too lazy to finish.

You can try with this fellow. It's a very old character I designed one time. I believe is not very complex, but might be a bit challenging to do. Also, it would be nice to see how you resemble it.

Made a robot AND some buildings, sorta. The buildings are still being constructed, but the robot's helping.
