AIM 2023 Discussions Thread 2023-04-21 02:39:57

Hi everyone, this is the official Discussions thread for AIM 2023. Due to the Newgrounds forums cooldown, I'm trying something new this year where I post the discussions thread first, followed by the submissions thread.


Please note that AIM 2023 currently has not started yet, so please don't start working on your entry until the submissions thread is posted! I'll share a link to the submissions thread here once I'm able to create it.


In the meantime, feel free to post any comments or questions you may have about the contest, though some questions may be addressed in the submissions thread. The rules for the contest are also going to be posted in the submissions thread.

if i remembered correctly from last year; you can, but you must state which submission is the main inspiration, with the rest being secondary inspiration

the rules say that the art has to be on the newgrounds art portal, but i already made a song based off of another image which is not on newgrounds. is that chill or do i gotta start over

Art inspirations must be from the Newgrounds Art Portal and cannot be rated A. Unfortunately, entries inspired by art not uploaded to the Art Portal are not allowed for this compo.

I would suggest reviewing the instructions and rules before starting a new entry to avoid running into other issues when submitting. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Pretty grateful that we have as much time as we do to submit to this, because while I did start work on one possible submission today, I realize the current length is nowhere near long enough (roughly 1:54 atm), and I can't say I'm not nervous about extensions making it sound too repetitious...

To participate in AIM and be eligible for judging and prizes, you need to be a scouted musician in the Audio Portal. It looks like you are already scouted, so you currently don't need to worry about this. The artist who you're inspired by does not need to be scouted.

No, you don't have to put "AIM" at the start of the title. However, it is recommended that you mention either in the title, tags or Author Comments that the track was created for the contest.

You may write observations in a separate section within the same post - as in, have the first part of the post with the titles and make a second section below it mentioning the titles again and the observations. I’d just like the votes themselves to be separate from the feedback (in terms of sections - they can remain in the same post) so it’s easier to count them once the voting period ends. I hope that clears things up!
