Well, if you wanna make stuff spoopy I'd recommend you to use a higher contrast, darker darks, everything being well lit doesn't leave much for the imagination to wonder, just don't abuse to the point you can't see anything.

Also, your character looks too cute to be intimidating, don't be afraid to use weird and uncanny proportions to make things look eerie.

I took your first images and made some changes.

I cropped of the bottom part since it, in my opinion, does not add anything useful.

I've changed the colors a bit and added some shadow and light to add drama to the image and draw the viewers eye to the 'angel'.

Added shadow to 'angel' to make it more ominous looking.

You chose one of the hardest things to do, and there're a lot of fundamentals you'll need to work on before it can be effective.

Horror scenes tend to have the following in common:

-Contrast is high or details are fuzzy.

-Most shapes, details and edges are obscured both by darkness and light sources. This makes composition very difficult but important.

-When there are light sources present in the scene, they are typically minimal and directional; this requires a good grasp on color and light theory, executed well.

-They tend to mix the familiar with the unfamiliar. If perspective, proportions, and other fundamentals are distorted or incorrect on purpose, it can be very effective, but when they're off just because of a poor grasp on those principles, it usually has the opposite effect.
