When I searched Baraag I got.. questionable images. Is it... really okay to join this place?

It's an artsite where you can post NSFW art, and anyone can see it without having to sign up for an account. The trick is that when you do post that artwork, you need to leave a link in your other accounts so other people will see them. The site can only be reached through pixiv, and though it's official name is Mastodon, you need to use "baraag" in the link.

It's primarily used for "problematic" NSFW art, but you can post sfw as well

I see. I've only heard of it from this random streamer. I've never heard of the site before. I lost interest in it eventually, so I didn't even bother looking more into at that time. I didn't feel like doing the research.

It's just a Mastodon instance, so it's effectively the same thing as any other Mastodon instance. If you're interested in Mastodon generally, you can look up more about it and maybe join an instance yourself. It's a federated social media platform - basically what you would get if you crossed Twitter with Discord. Individual "servers," called instances, that are each independently operated based on the same software. There are some nice art-centric instances you could look into. I've been using it for posting art for a while.
As for Baraag specifically, as others have already pointed out, it's an instance meant specifically for highly objectionable artwork. Nothing illegal, but stuff that would be very disturbing to most people. As a result, it has mostly been sequestered from the other instances (called "defederating") so that accounts from other Mastodon instances can't see or interact with Baraag users and their posts, and vice versa. It's become popular just because most art websites strictly forbid that kind of artwork, so there aren't many other places for those people to go. I'd suggest not getting involved with it, and staying away from it if you value your sanity. Unless you're into that kind of stuff, I guess. You likely won't find much of an audience for your art there unless it falls within their particular niche. There are better Mastodon instances for posting artwork anyways.
