How long (in your opinion) should an artist take to create a quality piece of work?

As in, do you think an artist should be able to produce a quality piece of work very quickly, or do you feel that they should take their time to make a piece as good as they possibly can?

Most artists take their time when working on something that they want to have higher-quality for, often taking hours or even days most of the time. (Just as long as the amount of time vs. the quality is reasonable. For example, spending every day for over a month on only a simple character is a bit overboard, unless you're trying to make one of the world's most detailed artworks. XD.) While some artists can definitely make high-quality work faster than others, it's usually due to the amount of practice they've had over the years. Making quick sketches/art is good for practice, getting into a good flow, and warming up before spending longer periods of time on art, but isn't something that's recommended too much when striving for a quality, completed work. So it mainly depends on what it is you're aiming for. For example, rough character-modeling sheets can be done pretty fast. But if you want to make a professional-looking sheet, you should take your time and make sure that everything looks as good as you would like. Doing both in moderation is usually the best way to go, so that you don't burn yourself out. I hope you find this response useful. :3.

it is much better for an artist to take his time to produce his magnus opus

Slow and safe
