What's your favorite album cover?
Mine would be Blue Oyster Cult's Club Ninja.
Mainly cause it's rad as fuck looking.
A space base in space?
Can't get cooler than that.
So yeah, post your favorite album covers and why.

Because it's too fucking normal to leave any hint to the artist.

Simple white + orange combo.
Kinda looks like a really tame Salvador Dali painting. Neat.
I really like Alter Bridge's Blackbird album cover
This is a tough one for me. A lot of my favorite album artwork ties in with the packaging of the record itself, like Isaac Hayes' Black Moses which with a few limited pressings folded out into a giant cross-shaped photo of him, or handmade covers put together by the band like GY!BE's F#A#∞ or numerous underground hardcore bands.
Looks like we're going purely off the front cover though, so here are some favorites that immediately come to mind:
also honorable mention to ECM covers and classic Iron Maiden art
If I offer to help you in a post, PM me to get it. I often forget to revisit threads.

I've heard that Jesus will come back from the dead if they ever release a second album.
It's all shits and giggles until someone giggles and shits.

Hey another GY!BE fan :D My favorite album art everrrr:
there is a spectacular lack of cheesy 80's rock album covers here.

The revenge of the ninja OST also had a spectacular cover
without thinking too hard about it and getting dat dere analysis paralysis
Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over the Sea
It's a Beautiful Day - Self Titled
J. Cole - 2014 Forest Hills Drive
Run the Jewels - Run the Jewels 2
I like Nirvana's "In Utero" album cover, despite hating Nirvana.
A Sense of Purpose by In Flames is really neat, I also like Polygondwanaland by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
I like album covers which actually feature the name of the band on the cover. I don't have any particular favorite.
Reason being is if you're in a record store sifting through the selections you're not gonna know who the hell various random "clever" no-name covers are. You won't even know what kind of music it is so it might not even be in a genre you like.
And don't say "You can just look on the spine" or "You can just look on the back" because no, no you can't a lot of the times. Very common for record stores to stock the actual records and CDs in the back, with only the cover on display for people to look at. So good luck knowing what some random picture with absolutely no indication of artist or album name actually is unless you happen to already have that album or are extremely familiar with that specific album despite not already owning it.
Hypothetical. Let's say all I have to look at is a picture of a tree. No band name, no writing, nothing else. It could be some awesome metal or it could be some lame preschool crap. I'm not going to buy when there's not even any indication of which genre the thing is.
