Sounds like the most probable ones are the protagonists from either Fallout 1 or 3. I'm leaning towards 3 since the whole "sheltered" aspect is much more important to narrative in that game. Since not only are you sheltered from the harsh reality from the of wasteland but you're also sheltered from the horrible reality inside the vault you have been living most of your life. That's like at least two layers of sheltering.

There is this guy that is very weak, and every single one of us are forced to take him down. he keeps coming back no matter what we do, he drinks some kind of juice whenever we hurt him too much, even if he kills us it doesn't matter, becuase we all have to expirience the same thing over and over again...
