At the time Homefront was made anybody could have seen it coming that North Korea was gonna be the subject of some shit soon, but the fact that it foreshadowed the death of Kim Jong-il is pretty uncanny. I don't think there's any way North and South Korea will reunite, though.

While it did foreshadowed the death of Kim Jung Il, and pretty close time-wise as well, there is really not much credence that North Korea would be a massive superpower in the Pacific by forcibly uniting the Korea Peninsula, invade Japan, Hawaii and the Philippines without much resistance, and even irradiate the Mississippi River in an invasion and occupation of America.
This is really nothing more than Hollywood writing to the max, which isn't much of a surprise considering that the scriptwriter and possibly the director of the game also did the 1984 Red Dawn movie.
