Your Gym Leader / Elite Four Team 2013-04-11 00:47:50

Let's say that you're a gym leader in the wonderful world of Pokemon. What kind of gym leader would you be? What kind of Pokemon team would you have? Let's find out.

1. What Type of Gym Leader?
First choose the type of Pokemon you will use? You know like Grass, Fire, Ice, Psychic, etc.

2. How Many Pokemon?
Since you are a gym leader you should have at least 2 Pokemon, but no more than 5.

3. What Level and Moves?
What moves do your Pokemon move? They should match the level that they're at. All your Pokemon should be around the same level or lower than your highest level Pokemon. Also if you give out a TM at the end of the match, all of your Pokemon should know this TM.

4. No Legendary Pokemon
Plain and simple. You are a gym leader. You should not have any legendary Pokemon on your team.

5. Only One Item
Only one Pokemon can hold an item. Also as a trainer you are allowed one X-Item and two healing items. No items that will leave your Pokemon with 1 HP left.

If you make an Elite Four Team you can be a bit more creative with your Pokemon, but you must follow some form of criteria and you HAVE to have up to SIX POKEMON. Also only two Pokemon are allowed to hold items and you are only allowed 7 Full Restores or 2 Max Potions.

That's it. Let's see what your teams are. I think I would like to be a Normal type Gym Leader, much like Whitney. I would come near the end of the game, but not the last gym. The TM I would give out at the end of the battle would be Hyper Beam. Here are my teams.

TRAINER ITEMS: 1 X Sp. Defend and 1 Soda Pop

Clefable (Lv. 27) [NORMAL TYPE]
- Sing
- Wake-Up Slap
- Pound
- Hyper Beam

Wigglytuff (Lv. 30) [NORMAL TYPE]
- Sing
- Sweet Kiss
- Pound
- Hyper Beam

Lickilicky (Lv. 33) [NORMAL TYPE]
- Lick
- Rollout
- Slam
- Hyper Beam
HELD ITEM: Sitrus Berry

Below would be my Elite Four Team. I decided to the same thing again, using Normal Type Pokemon to fill out my Elite Four Team. However I decided to get a bit more tricky with the move sets this time.

TRAINER ITEMS: 3 Full Restores

Wigglytuff (Lv. 48) [NORMAL TYPE]
- Sing
- Hyper Voice
- Dream Eater
- Wake-Up Slap
HELD ITEM: Wide Lens

Tauros (Lv. 49) [NORMAL TYPE]
- Horn Attack
- Giga Impact
- Zen Headbutt
- Wild Charge

Sawsbuck (Lv. 50) [NORMAL/GRASS TYPE]
- Charm
- Horn Leech
- Double-Edge
- Jump Kick
HELD ITEM: Sitrus Berry

Girafarig (Lv. 55) [NORMAL/PSYCHIC TYPE]
- Headbutt
- Psychic
- Crunch
- Thunder

Bouffalant (Lv. 57) [NORMAL TYPE]
- Headbutt
- Wild Charge
- Head Charge
- Earthquake

Togekiss (Lv. 60) [NORMAL/FLYING TYPE
- Psychic
- Tri Attack
- Aura Sphere
- Air Slash

There you have it. So, who are your teams?

A normal E4 member would honestly do piss poor and just be cannon fodder for the player, just from the massive weakness normal types have to some of the more powerful moves in the games ( IE Cross Chop )

Granted, a normal type gym leader wouldn't be bad if you tossed them at the player early on. Perhaps as the first gym.

You should totally add me on one of my various game accounts:

360 - Malachi117. Steam - Malachi117. PS3/PS4 - NarcolepticCat.

Well that's how Pokemon tends to work. I admit as an Elite Four Member, could be easy to get by, the first member to be challenged. However as a gym leader I think one could hold their own. Maybe if I replaced Aura Sphere on Togekiss with Air Slash instead, because then that could handle a fighting type well since it is both Normal and Flying.

I'd be giving out Thunderbolt after the battle, just like any good Electric type leader would

-Thunderbolt
-Hydro Pump
-Shadow Ball
-Substitute

Eelektross (Lv 51) [ELECTRIC]
-Thunderbolt
-Giga Drain
-Aqua Tail
-Dragon Claw

For an Elite Four team, i'd also use electric, but since I already made an electric team, lets go with my second favorite type, and go with a Fire team!

TRAINER ITEMS: 3 Full Restores

Arcanine (Lv 60) [FIRE]
-Wild Charge
-Flamethrower
-Bulldoze
-Extremespeed

Houndoom (Lv 60) [FIRE/DARK]
-Flamethrower

-Giga Drain
-Quiver Dance
HELD ITEM: Wise Glasses

I doubt I would be a trainer at all. I would be better off as a shop manager or something.

The Bird of Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me tame.

To continue the tradition of Gym leaders having three pathetically weak pokemon, I would use:
2 Super Potions
Pikachu - Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Iron Tail, Tail Whip
Pachirisu @ Shuca Berry - Thunderbolt, Discharge, Tail Whip, Quick Attack
Raichu - Thunderbolt, Thunder, Tail Whip, Quick Attack

As an Elite Four, I would use a decent team:
10 Full Restores
Eelektross @ Leftovers - Volt Switch, Flamethrower, Grass Knot, Acid Spray
Stunfisk @ Leftovers - Discharge, Earth Power, Scald, Stealth Rock
Lucario - Aura Sphere, Vacuum Wave, Dark Pulse, Thunderpunch
Klinklang - Wild Charge, Shift Gear, Substitute, Gear Grind
Starmie @ Choice Specs - Thunderbolt, Surf, Ice Beam, Psychic
Jolteon - Thunderbolt, Volt Switch, Substitute, Agility

Teleport doesn't work in battles.
