This is the first picture I made in flash after I learned about drawing. I'm not done learning and nowhere near perfect, but I thought I would post it and see what people think. It is a picture of the word Bowlin, shaded, so feel free to leave feedback.

practice drawing 3 dimensional shapes like spheres and cylinders and cubes. Then shade those. Its easier to shade those shapes because you know which areas to designate to be darker or lighter.

After that you apply the same rules to your B shape or Letter shaped 3 dimensional objects. But in order to apply those same rules you need to understand how to draw those letters 3-dimensionally. I could explain it to you here.... But its easier if you research it on your own or have someone show you in person.

And after that, do not post them. Practice sketches of basic shapes and poorly done fonts are cruddy and unimaginative. You will have tons of them as you learn and they are perfectly fine kept to yourself. You should be showing off your work. That or trying to get feedback on your good ideas for art.
