Strange compliments

Ever had someone say something to you and you're not sure if it was a compliment, an insult, a joke, or whatever?

I recall a year ago in drama class when we were playing a game outside that involves running, someone said I "run like a gazelle". Does that mean I run gracefully or I run like an animal? Also, after a concert a few days ago, I was standing around trying to find my friends, and some woman was walking past me and she sorta walked up to me glanced at me once and while looking away said "that is some serious hair" with a sort of inflection as if she witnessed the most epic battle ever, knowwutimsayin'? She just kept walking. It was weird.

I've gotten a couple compliments on my nails..
A girl asked me once how i kept my nails so nice. As if would do special things to my nails. No, i don't and i even bite on them.

Me and two other girls were in health class talking about obese people when we started talking about people that were raised obese. I said that there were people like me that were fed junk at an early age and became overweight, but the girls didn't think I was fat. They thought I was actually pretty muscular. They're both my friends so that kind of compliment was normal but I liked it. I've got some flab on me that I'm hoping to burn this summer when I get my weights.
