Ok so I'm making a game that requires a lot of items on screen (in the frame at least) but it's slowing the game down too much, I tried turning all the objects into quick backdrops and it fixed the slow down but now they dont show up in the event editor. I really need help with this!

Flash is crap when trying to do complex games (especially bitmap based ones), the overhead is even more ridiculous than Game Maker, so you're probably better of making an EXE. It's either that or you're going to have to do some mad optimization.
How many objects is the object counter telling you are using?
