That perfect pluck Bass attack 2011-01-12 23:29:00

Every time i try to make a trance/electro housey pluck bass(or whatev its called) such as this one in Xkore's old song time flies: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/2 27985, the attack just sounds annoying and clicky or too punchy rather than than that perfect tribaly high speed punching bag little blip(yknow the circle punch thing). Wavewise id say thats a saw with not much high end? Anyone got some tips on how to get that perfect pluckey blippy attack, ive failed too many times at it.

But god i can listen to the bass on that song forever.

Can you be more specific about the sound you want to make??

In the link you posted i hear a bass drum at 0:58?? are you referring to that??

I think its a bass synth that is playing along the bass drum, and to make that punchy bass drum, mmm i don't know how to do it in FL but in Reason you can make that by adding a compressor, a maximizer and a EQ. (boost the bass in the Mixer's EQ) to the desired instrument .

Do the right tweaks and you'll get that punchy bass drum.

Music is my passion , not my business.

Thank yous Captain obvious :P, im specifically reffering to the attack on the bass snappy yet not overpowering, i can never get a my pluckier basslines to get an attack that pronounced yet still smooth and not overly smashing and clicky.

I think the main factor is that its digital and not analog in the attack.

IT"S THE FUCKING METRONOME< TURN THE METRONOME OFF.

Audio | Alter | It sounds like a fire hydrant went off in an old folks home with screaming babies field recorded, glitched, and spontaneously played back.

Put an LP Filter over a saw bass, and have it controlled by an envelope.

its some saws with a square on the lower ends i think, i cant really remember, but that's what i usually do in 3xosc. then you use the envelope controller on low pass filter. if it's too clicky turn down the AMT knob (on other synths it's called envelope usually) so the attack doesn't go all the way to the highs, or you could turn up the tension on the decay so it isn't such a sharp fall.

also, thats one of my older songs, so im pretty sure i just slammed a soundgoodizer on there aswell.

soundgoodizer is always the best solution.
