I reckon I might give Creature of a Week a wee break for a while (I would guess 6 weeks) ( ... or around the time BMK does art forum awards, as a tacky little reminder :3). I don't think it's lost momentum (last week was just a poor topic choice) but I would like to have a breather and stop plaguing my sketchbook with cows.

Plus NG Showdown is better!

Well, as long as its coming back... I agree with that I dont think poeple have lost interest in this altogether, but over the past weeks there have been some really good cows (firestarter, arctic mount) and some very poor (like last weeks). Maybe every week is just too much for some poeple, maybe its the topics...
It might be better to take a break with all those collabs/contests going on at the moment... it really has become hectic in here...

Doubles showdown is cool, but definitely not comparable to cow. Although I can imagine poeples time getting filled up with all these side projects (doubles, cows,....)

I really liked this creature, although it didn't turn out perfectly. I made this in flash, cause I needed to get into the groove for making animations.

Name: Tuolarakii
Common Name: Parchworm, The Withholder.

In the desert, water is a neccesity, but none hold as much sway over the resource and take advantage of such power as much as the Parchworm. Reaching up to 40ft in length this slithery creature is quite a sight to behold, despite it rarely surfacing.
Living primarily within the watertable deep below the desert, these behemoths rises up only to create, tend, and clean their traps, which take the the form of lush oases. They create these paradises by searching for underground lakes under pressure, where they bore upwards with their claws until the water seeps forth.
Once a pool is started, the Parchworm anchors transparent and sticky silken strands all around the banks of the oasis, and trails them down its sinkhole in the center to its lair below. This is done so that when a thirsty animal or person approaches the water it will be stuck on the line, and most of the time entangling itself in the line and becoming imobilized. From there all the Parchworm has to do is drag the unfortunate soul down to the bottom of the oasis and through the sinkhole to its lair, where the angler devours its drowned carcass, it having been killed by what could have granted it life.
The oases that are created by these cruel beasts can eventually become quite lush given time, and this draws many forms of life to its deathly silent pool. Tribes of humans and other sentient and semi sentient creatures have been known to worship these pools, and in return for water they sacrifice things such as material goods or living bodies to their god, the life giving, and taking, all mighty Parchworm.

So, is anything going on with this CoW, or is is going to sink into the filth pools of the forums? If so I will not stand for that!
