Laptops suck for gaming. Most laptops lack sufficient processor speed needed to play new games.

Haha I love this!!! But trust us all when we say that laptops are really bad for game play, because:
a) Alot of them do not actually have a "real" graphics card, most will say "Intergrated" graphics card which means that its more or less software based graphic drivers
b) Processor speeds are bad
c) Laptops are hard to upgrade - desktop PC's are alot more easier to upgrade with new HDs, graphic cards, sound cards, etc etc.
So for a wise investment get a desktop, not a laptop (the only thing useful for a laptop is doing work on the go)
PS - The battery life on laptops are so bad. When I first got mine it use to last 1.5hours and now (18 months later on) it can barely last 5 minutes! (And before you say you can buy a new battery, HP batteries cost like £70 so they aint cheap)

get my drift?
back to your question if u are gonna get a gaming laptop buy a cheap one then get it upgraded by professionals
Buy a desktop, depending on where you live you can find alot of sites that let you customize a PC and are generally cheap.

illicit makes a damn good signature.
Haha, good luck with that. Unless you want to shell out $5000 on an AlienWare which I HIGHLY recommend NOT DOING because:
1. $5000++ is a waste of money for just playing games.
2. You can build desktop that is 5x as good for a $1000.
3. The laptop will only be good for gaming, intensive 3D modeling.
4. You can't upgrade anything in a laptop aside from the RAM, HHD and Wifi Card and on very very few the CPU.
5. You obviously don't plan on going to Starbucks to play games so the portability advantage is obsolete.
6. A separate Keyboard and Mouse is superior to that of the Touchpad/Stock-Mouse/shitty Keyboard on the laptop.
7. If one component fails in a laptop, you will have to send it off for repairs rather then be able to fix it yourself.
8. A desktop is a much longer time-period investment
9. Gaming laptops weight a fucking ton and look terrible.
10. Just don't do it, as you most likely don't have sufficient funds for it anyways.
Wait at least 5-10 years till laptops get to the point of being amazing and priced low for playing graphic intensive games.
I use a laptop and I can play COD4 and COD5 at med settings.. :S and L4d at high..
It's got a good graphics card, so I don't understand what you're talking about there.
Just buy a Macbook Pro, macs are good quality (I have 3 macs) and it is fairly ineaxpensive. It has a good processor and decent video card (for a gaming computer) also, you can easily dual boot Windows on it.
I'd recommend this one.
most people who say gaming sucks on laptops probably never owned a laptop or have extremely crappy ones. I bought a cheap laptop last year and I can play crysis on medium settings

How much? And firstly we are talking putting the graphics on highest settings - I do not wanna buy a game to comprimise on the graphics - thats like buying a sports car but putting a speed limiter on it - whats the point???
laptop....for gaming...HAH youd be lucky if the damn things will EVER play a game like fallout 3 or crysis............ so the quick answer is.... you cant get a laptop for gaming for under $3000-$4000 as most expensive ones say they are good but suck.....ALOT...GET A DESKTOP

A Mac would be a bad choice for gaming... As far as I know not many games are compatible with the OP.

around $500, and I'm not such a graphics whore such as yourself. I care about the gameplay

I am a graphics whore now??? lol I just thought people tend to buy new games for BOTH the graphics and the gameplay - its like buying a new game thats come out for PS3, 360 and Wii, but you buy the PS2 version......
It really doesnt quite cut it - dont get me wrong I am all for gameplay but do you not find it annoying at times that the game could be such a better experience if the graphics were what they were meant to be???
cant u listen? almost everyone here says get a desktop and thats a good choice becuase i looked on a pc comparison website and typed in gaming laptop and the top five ones were 1 mill at general and even then itsd hard to play a game with the compacted laptop keyboard ect so LISTEN you asked so we told if u r gonna ignore us then poss off
good luck with that. get a pc for half the cost for the equivalent laptop, and best of all, you can upgrade PC's when laptops are limited to RAM.

i really lurked the subject
Yeh but thats ok for now but we know in a couple of years time (at the most) it will not be powerful enough to actually play and as mentioned previously it is relatively hard to upgrade laptops - whilst for a PC it is childs play
