The purpose of this thread is to provide a place for people to expose their DJ mixes to NG, since file/sampling restrictions make doing so on the portal impossible

Yes this is doomed to failure, stfu.

What you SHOULD post in this thread:
-Mixes done by YOU
-Links to the full mixes, either direct or to the appropriate rapidshare/megaupload/sendspace/etc. page
-Live or Studio sets, done by any means

What you SHOULD NOT post in this thread:
-Mixes done by OTHERS, with or without permission
-"Mashup" tunes. This is for full length mixes. Make it at least 20 minutes or gtfo

Posting guidelines:
-Provide as much information as possible about your set so you can find the folks who would really like to listen to it, and not waste the time of others.
-Follow the template (or die)
-DO NOT BUMP NEEDLESSLY. Feel free to discuss the mixes posted herein to your heart's content but do not bump the topic with "moar comments plz" bullshit.

Template for posting:

Name - The name of your mix
Length - Length of the mix in h:mm:ss
Format - The format of your mix (.mp3, .wav (god forbid), etc) and the compression rate (320, 256, etc)
Size - Size in MB
Genre - The overarching genre(s) of the mix (Trance, DnB, etc)
Sub-Genre - The style(s) within the genre the mix covers
Type - Live or Studio?

TRACKLIST - Very important! Please please PLEASE include the tracklist with your mix. Should be in the format of "Artist - Song." Also, if any of the tunes are done by NG artists, link to the author's page if at all possible.

Enjoy :>

It would kill it... most of my recorded ones are either 3 hours (from clubs) or 10 minute fun mixes. no one wants to listen to a 3 hour + mix...

We're even, then, since I know zilch about DnB & jungle. :P Downloading your mix as well; looking forward to listening!
Eeek, sorry about the file size. At least I'm not my friend who uploads in nothing but 320 kbps. I love his mixes, but they take up a few gigs on my computer. Bah.

I guess all you need to know is that the songs are long (between five and eight minutes, minus transitions) and the transitions are subtle. This mix is actually mostly house and house-y mixes, a LOT less trance-y what I usually do; I mixed it during Thanksgiving weekend, when I was in a chill mood. So...yeah, it's really pretty laid-back, especially the first half. It speeds up a little bit and gets trancier when it hits the set highlight.

Ooh, as of this weekend, I've been mixing for a month. Yay. :D

Congrats :> It's impressive that you actually got something up in that time. Most people who start "mixing" just play on the tables for a couple weeks then give up because IT 2 HRD 4 ME Dx

Looking forward to hearing it in any case. I've always been meaning to give 4x4 stuff a try. Probably won't happen until tomorrow though

Thanks! I have to probably concede that trance came pretty straightforwardly to me, though. It's all 4/4, and as long as you know how to beat-match not-shittily, you're set as a beginner. Setting yourself apart & making a unique sound is the hard part.

I really like your mix so far. It's as mostly-chill as you said it would be; not as gritty as I expect from DnB. Pretty darn clean mix, too-- how long have you been doing it for? DnB has some complex stuff to transition, and for a live mix, this is great.

Definitely. Not to insult your genre, but most stuff I"ve heard sounds pretty generic. Excited for you to prove me wrong though. D/L's at a whopping 20%

Glad you're enjoying. While the gritty, steppy grind dnb is the most popular these days, it's far from all the genre has to offer. I'm much more a fan of the super-old-school ragga influenced stuff, and the newer intelligent styles that take more cues from jazz, ambient stuff, etc.

I've got a mix planned out, will post it here when I'm done. I have some finished mixes, but none are really up to par with my standards :S

Response to Mixes Archive 2008-12-15 14:43:09

Lira, just listened to the set. I was totally surprised by how much I liked it to be honest. Kind of envy the laid-back style that the longer tunes allow, and your selection is certainly more intelligent than the trance I've heard in the past.

As for your botched transitions, very minor. For the two week mark, that's some very impressive mixing! I know the genre tends to keep a pretty constant atmosphere, but seriously, that was smooth as hell. Post moar plz

So here we go:
