For some reason this reminds me of a scene from Beast Wars. That's a good thing. Great job. Keep up the awesome. :)
When I was working on this, I had to call my dad to remind me who the pan flute player was he used to listen to when I was growing up. The answer was Gheorghe Zamfir. That guy is a pan flute monster. There are obvious Ennio Morricone influences as well.
The more I work with B-movie inspired music, the more I realize this is something I think I really love. Composers from that era who were good at it struck the perfect balance of cheesy and badass. I hope someday I can at least get close.
Production-wise, I still haven't quite captured the sound, but aggressively filtering out low frequencies is helping me get a bit closer. I still haven't nailed the tube preamp crunch yet. Hard panning more instruments would probably also help, but I'm trying to avoid going that route.
If anyone is working on any sort of culty b-movie inspired animation, I'm available to work on music.
Let me know if you want to use this in something or would like to commission new music.
