Track 5 of Aphelion, and the main focal point of the album. An Aphelion is the point in a planet's orbit when it is the furthest from the sun. This is the metaphorical representation of the first all-time low we all reach at some point or another in life. The song is based around a melody I imagined a bird would sing after realizing it could no longer fly after someone else clipped its wings. I composed this after I was fired from a job for the first time. I had been making good money and for the first time in my life, finances were looking up, but I hated my job. I began to loathe it, and my performance and attendance became terrible. They didn't have much choice but to let me go. It still hurt and felt like my own "wings" were clipped. As such, the song represents the depression, loneliness, and even anger I felt after being let go. It's not what I would call a fun song to listen to, but more of an attempt at artwork and an outlet for those wounded feelings. It hurt, but so much good has come from it. For starters, it was the inspiration for this album!

I'm very surprised by all of this - this is my fourth front page piece in a fairly short amount of time. I'm especially surprised because I'm really still what I would call a professional amateur - I'm self taught with all of this. There's a ton of schooling I need that I don't have, and as such my mixing skills are not what I'd call good. I'm delighted to see that whoever is putting the pieces on the front page likes the material enough to do so. Makes me feel like maybe I can go places with the music if I can get some formal education on the matter.
I love how you did this. The lush and calm chords and the lo-fi drums add a lot to it. The pads were VERY well chosen/designed. But when the melody came in is when it really started to distinguish itself.
