Europa [Charity Album]

Europa is the song that inspired the space theme for this album. The name Europa comes from a default Reason Compact synth, which I used extensively for this song. Europa is a moon of Jupiter, and has a large water ocean under its icy surface which scientists speculate could hold conditions favorable to life. I like to think of the beginning of this song as exploring the surface, and further into the song you can hear the vibrant life beneath the ice. Enjoy!

My Songs To Spacewalk To Album is the culmination of many months of music making, from around November 2019 to June 2020. I think I improved a lot as a composer and producer, and I hope it sounds that way too! If you like my music enough that you think it's worth money, you can buy the album or individual tracks on Bandcamp. All the revenue from the album will go to Arbor Day Foundation, an international charity organization founded nearly 50 years ago with the sole goal of planting and conserving trees, which are so necessary for all life on our beautiful planet. As of May 2021, this album raised over $50 for the Arbor Day Foundation! https://gizmote.bandcamp.com/album/songs-to-spacewalk-to

Created by Gizmote on GarageBand for Mac and GarageBand for iOS, as well as JummBox (tracks 2 and 3, Nep Tunes and Updraft), Beatwave (track 7, Flyby) and Ableton Live 10 (track 10, Stellar w/ N-251).

The wonderful album art was made by 8th, who can be found at twitter.com/8thykingdom .

N-251, who worked on song 10 (Stellar) with me, can be found here: https://soundcloud.com/n251

Hi, I'm Gizmote (he/they)! I like music so much that I started making some myself. I started making music in 2017 under the name GizmoDude8128 and have been releasing songs frequently ever since! My music tends to fit in genres such as electronic, EDM, ambient, and chiptune, but I've also done a bit of orchestral, techno, and synthwave. My two biggest releases are Songs To Spacewalk To and Bright, both released in 2020, the revenue from which is donated to the Arbor Day Foundation! My biggest inspirations include C418 and Waterflame, as well as dozens of other artists. As of 2021, I have released over 60 songs, and I plan on making more creative works as long as I can! Thanks for listening.

I like the quirky bass riff at the beginning and the spacey synths at :11. There’s a tad too much reverb in the texture, especially on the drums, and the drum samples themselves are also pretty generic. I’m really enjoying the rich harmonies by around 1:20, and the breakdown at 1:42 is great for some variety. The pitch-bending on that synth at around 2:05 is nice, and the drawn-out phrasing there builds a good sense of anticipation into the return of the main theme at 2:35. I might’ve liked to hear a little more variety on some of the main melodies later on, but the rich atmosphere and full texture help me stay engaged. Solid work! The sound design, pensive mood, and progression are all especially nice here. Keep at it, GizmoDude8128! :)
