I pitched an idea to Jorshes for a sci-fi script and The Penance Engine came into fruition. From the get, the writing enthralled my attention and stirred up those really blatantly good feeling of creativity. Everything from the intro to the therapist conversation had me hooked! The only idea that I pitched to Jorshes was "sci-fi" and maybe "dark" or "dramatic", and he took it to an expert level of craftsmanship. Needless to say I was impressed, and Jorshes has already been commissioned for a script that he's made for EPISODE 2. He's a brilliant writer.

The introduction to a time-travelling machine made way for its original narrative being that the Therapist (played by ZaPanda) was secretly the Man's mother. An allure of fixing the past through a shady scenario like time-travel really made me want to take it towards a darker avenue, so the original ending had been replaced by what I thought to be a good twist. Jorshes is an excellent writer, and somehow he managed to concoct such an original script that literally had me on edge and almost in tears from its originality and play on deeper feelings.

Jacob was new to the project at this point. We had only just met and begun talking about what I was doing that required so many voice actors. I showed Jacob the finished Penance Engine script and he did the intro on the spot, and I believe he nailed it! Accent and all, Jacob performed impressively to produce gripping, realistically moody results for this otherwise difficult-to-capture setting of dramatic surrealism.

ZaPanda leaned towards a British voice for the Therapist. After hearing her audition, I was blown away by her ability to convey emotions in a consistent pattern while maintaining the accent of her character. She is easily someone I would recommend for literally any kind of project that requires professional, succinct voice acting, and she's not afraid to test the dynamics of her range. It was very fun hearing the final product and feeling the weight she puts behind key moments.
