Ok so this one I'd actually recorded for the same sessions I did for Queen of Death, unfortunately the one there sounds a bit worse, plus no vox (I'm debating whether this is a good thing or not) and there's a couple glaring mistakes, and like the original Queen recordings, I lost them because I'm a fucking moron, so I used an earlier version that doesn't suck too hard. Ok so backstory for this one, it was written in 2014 and then 3 days later the laptop I was using died, I still miss it, but anyway, got a new computer and it was a piece of shit so I couldn't continue my work. 2016 I get my current computer and I can record again, so I redo this one. My playing was a bit shittier then and I thought the fuzzstorm on the guitars sounded cool, I mean it kinda does but it's a bit unclear and it lacks defintion on the palm mutes but HEY ANYTHING FOR THAT VINTAGE 80'S GARAGE SOUND HUH. I actually got a friend of mine to sing for this, he's uh, marginally better than me and because it's me and not him I'm not embarassed to high hell by uploading it. That being said, please ignore the backing "high" vocals on the last pre-chorus, again, I thought they sounded good at the time, I was wrong, and I also can't find the original REAPER file for this one, fuck me huh? Used a shitty non professional mic for vox, the rest was plugged in directly to my computer, and I used Amplitube.

Lyrics for this one concern patriotism and the pride of man as he defends the country that stands behind him, that or fighting for what's important to you or whatever, interpret it to your own liking man. Here's the words for it too (if you cringe I understand, I'm sorry for sucking)

No remorse for the living, no pity for the dead
You're in this and you gotta fight
Through this blind rage I only see red
I've lost track of all that is right
The shadows surround me, they speak alien tongues
I can't tell between friend or foe
My mind keeps pushing in all of my wrongs
As madness turns into woe

Fight, your war can't be won
If you can't break away
From this torment you feel
The tides must change
Right now!

Advance!

Who are you to say my cause isn't just
It is what I've believed day by day
I can't tell them why, their words I can't trust
They can't understand anyway
You see them laugh as they beat you down
Smile as they leave you to die
Just get on your feet, give 'em reason to frown
And scream another battle cry

Fight, your war can't be won
If you can't break away
From this torment you feel
The tides have to change

(Chorus)
On your feet
Stand up and fight
Don't think just give 'em your hell
Don't back down
Stand up and fight
Move forward with and never give in

I'm laying right now gazing up at the sky
My heart now torn to a shred
I can't say much now as I'll surely soon die
My last breath on a mud covered bed
I defended her honor, held her name up high
Fought against all enemy curs
I'll let it be known when the end nigh
I'll die fighting for her

Fight, your war can't be won
If you can't break away
From this torment you feel
The tides will change
Right now!

(Chorus)

Edit 5/24/2019: SO I dug DEEP into my REAPER files and managed to find the session I recorded this in, fortunately with a set of vocals I did later on which don't sound as rough, at least I'm t r y i n g to hit notes here. I felt the need to upload this version because I'm pretty sure the fact the vocals don't suck this much this time around really completes the tune.

Also kinda belated and it's out of the frontpage for now but oh my fucking god thank you for FP on the 14th, it still feels surreal considering this site really was my late childhood for me, so thanks.

LAST MINUTE EDIT: If for any reason anyone wants a copy of the old song, here's a link from my filedump; https://www.newgrounds.com/dump/download/f7bb749b41e662f51f3deadc7828b4e1

Hey don't be too hard on yourself, this sounds pretty good and so do the vox. Halfway between Metallica and Iron Maiden. Keep it up!

MercyfulDeath responds:

I appreciate the review, and I'm grateful for the compliments. Guess I'm hard on myself because I want to at least sound professional musically and I can really hear every single mistake on the vox. But at the end of the day no one knows exactly how much you suck except yourself.

Once again, thanks for the comment and review.

I needed this tbh!

Truly a sick track.

MercyfulDeath responds:

Thanks b, glad you like it!
