For all who liked my ABFH remix I did back in February, then you'll be pleased to see that I did another EBF5 remix, but of the intro song because it's literally one of the greater songs of the series tbh

Firstly, I apologize for not uploading an audio in like a month, I've been busy with helping in some competitions that are going on or occurring very soon, one of which being AIM (if you haven't submitted go and do so since there's a month and bigger prizes may be coming soon... perhaps). I'm hoping to improve that, but I don't know since real life stuff is occurring right now and some of it takes priority... so yeah.

Secondly, as perhaps many of you know, this is for the Newgrounds EBF Anniversary competition, which ends in like a say or two. I'm not expecting myself to win, but I'm really happy for playing through EBF5 after winning it from being second best in the ABFH competition in February (another competition that was related to EBF5, I believe it was closer to launch). It's a really unique game, the soundtrack is AMAZING, and I think it's one of the only games where I ever found a bunch of good fourth-wall jokes - for example, "The developer has some explaining to do if I'm moving at 10 FPS" (or something like that lol).

anyway thanks

Hi again!
I'm glad to hear your take on this track! I think it's really cool!
At some points, your compressor pulls back a bit too harsh and it kind of stands out, I think maybe ease up on the knee/ratio a bit and it will help with that. That or maybe try compressing on certain frequencies instead of the whole spectrum.
Great use of reverb at certain points to emphasize the solo instruments!
Keep up the awesome stuff!

And thank you so much for being a fan! <3

SplatterDash responds:

Hey Phyrnna! Thank you so much for the wonderful words, and before I go further, thank you so much for a wonderful soundtrack to an amazing game series. A Breeze From Home, the song that got me into the series, never disappointed, and whenever I go into battles, explore around, or even just trade out armor and weapons or upgrade them, I love hearing the music of the soundtrack. :D
I just took the time now to fiddle around with the ratio setting of my compressor, and believe it or not, it's really low, at 2:1, with the only way of getting lower being 1.5:1. I think I can still fiddle around with the compressor and mastering, though, because there's still some stuff I can do with it that may help with easing that up.
Again, thank you for not only leaving some advice but making amazing soundtracks for a great game series. Keep up the wonderful work :D

That buildup is nothing short of beautiful. I ended up spacing out while listening to this. Takes me back to the days when I spent hours playing EBF3. I hope you continue to make wonderful remixes and original content like this. :D

I like this a lot. It really builds up over time.

SplatterDash responds:

Glad you like it! Hopefully it won't run at 10 FPS :p

Do I hear a U2 vibe there? Nicely done. Definitiely some ispirational moments. Choice of intstruments though sometimes could be better. Could use more supporting deep instruments in the section during the buildup. The brass section is far too prominent.

SplatterDash responds:

Thanks for the advice! Yeah I noticed a little bit how the bass-y end lacks a little bit in this, forgot to do a little mastering trick to bring it out lol. The brass was kinda prominent because that's how it was in the original, but I see that it's a little too out there, which I feel could have needed a littleore compression only for the brass. Still, thank you for listening and glad you enjoyed it :D

This whole track sounds really sweet, I like it. The music box sound, with the strings and the piano sounds really pleasant. Though, starting at 1:50, the chords of the strings could benefit with a bit more clarity. It's quite hard to hear the individual notes played. :) The reverb on the percussion at 2:45 muddies up the mix a bit as well, as the only thing I can really hear clearly at this point is the music box, as it's sitting nicely in the frequencies.

I like the variation in the dynamics throughout the track and lot of the instrumental choices are quite nice! The brass at 3:12 onwards is slightly clipping on my end at times, though only a small amount. The fade-ins sound quite unnatural, but perhaps that was your intention :) it gives it less of a realistic sound and more experimental.

That's a really nice transition at 3:50! Haha I was just about to say I liked the birds tweeting, but realised I have my window open and can hear them from outside. That said, the atmosphere at this part is my favourite part of the track and leads onto a nice climax at 4:30. I like the addition of the choir on this part to build the dynamics of the piece up, but the strings still get a little lost in the mix.

Really enjoyed the outro! Very enigmatic.

Overall, quite a nice job with this and lots of things to enjoy about it :) great work SD!
