Simple little tune. Not exactly synthwave nor techno nor trance. Unfortunately NGs doesn't have a breakbeat or a retro genre. I'll probably polish this up a bit more when I have time.

Finally emptying out more of my synth collection, so for the sake of having something on my desk, I picked up a volca keys for 99 bucks.

First impression: Love it. Has some limitations though. Has a serious noise issue on the very top of the spectrum, especially when filter res is cranked. 16kHz high cut was needed for all takes. Oscillators sound nice and sweet. Good LFO. Accepted pitch bend midi in unison modes. Didn't use the sequencer, so I can't speak for that (I'm sure it's fine). Bit of a harsh resonance curve. Without a good reverb, the ADSR range is too narrow for ambient swells & pads (IMO). Voice modes are awesome. Delay is crap, unless you want bit crush delay, then it's perfect (had to use logic plug-in where I wanted smoother delays). Stepped attenuation is good for more glitchy sounds, not so great for smooth stuff. Filter is fine for edgier styles, again not so great for smooth. Build quality is the most surprising. It's no tank but it doesn't feel chintzy at all. Considering it's price compared to competitors, it's an amazing little piece of gear.
