so this is a little piece I've been working with on and off. This is mostly live playing. in fact the only automated instruments (outside of a digital shaker, because my time isn't super) was the MS2000 run on a custom midi pattern. finally got to rough mix stage with the newest junker synth I picked up (might have the return it, if the seller gets grumpy). Still needs the gong I bought but it hasn't arrived yet, so, expect an update to this some time.
Produced in logic pro using a Meinl aqua udu, Hugh Tracey kalimba, Korg Triton-rack, and one very beat up Korg MS2000.
Feedback always welcome, so long as it's detailed. "this sucks" is not detailed enough. just sayin'

Not sure why ratings are so low! It's not unpleasant, is it? Got a weird, spacy, alien feel to it. Like a religious ritual from another galaxy. I mean, it's not my thing, but it's so interesting and crispy! I wish I had equipment like you :(

PLEASE never let the idea of what equipment you have or have not, limit your creativity. I speak from experience. After 10 years of working in a professional studio full of ridiculously expensive equipment, my rig is peanuts. Laughable really, but I put time, brains and heart into what I do. It shines through sometimes It think, as your comment is evidence. :)
Even for a rough mix it sound pretty good. Not sure how I like the vocal, maybe its too in front. If you can, put some reverb on it so it has some more space. I really really like the flow of this song, like it's telling a story of some sort. Good for animations I guess :)
yes! thank you! I had similar thoughts about the vocal. though not much needs doing there. I thought it maybe could be blended with the background, just a little more. there's actually a lot of minor little details I want to tweak and fill in on this but like I said, it'll wait till I have my cheepass used gong I just bought, so I can replace the stock sound on the time keeping drum track. Thank you for the feedback. Yeah this would be great for a game or animation, if you are working on any or know of someone who needs music. :)
