Hi there!

So I just returned from Iceland, after an incredible trip. I'm working on a few different projects at the moment, but I felt like playing something after not having touched the piano for a week. This is what came out of it!

I hope you relax, and enjoy ^___^

Such a gorgeous solo piano piece, Lucid. You switch so effortlessly from the more delicate sound to the fuller and deeper chords, and back again.

As always, for an improvisational session, the overall quality is impressive. There were only a few discordant notes from start to finish, and your skillful playing helps to maneuver the mind's eye beyond those brief moments and on into the next.

Even when the music stops, it continues to reverberate within. A very emotional piece, and clearly inspired by your trip to Iceland. Welcome home! I'm glad to hear that you had such a fantastic trip, my friend. I very much enjoyed your playing, and am feeling thoroughly relaxed. :)

Aww, thank you Chrono! ^___^

It felt very different to play this improv, than my usual ones, since this was recorded on my stage keyboard (a synth, basically), instead of on my electric piano. I think it was refreshing, in a way!

Yeah, I'm always prone to make a few mistakes when improvising, but I don't usually mind them, as they add to the fleeting moment :3

I enjoyed my trip indeed! In fact, it was an indescribable experience :D
I think I must've taken like 2000 pictures and 100 short videos xD
Thanks for the support, I hope you're doing well!!

Very quiet beginning. ._. Really maximizes the emotional appeal. Sounds like solitude amidst a winter storm. Melodic content is beautiful. There's so much dynamic contrast, and the rhythmic work at 1:30 or so is really nice. The descending line at around 2:00 really got me too. Love the shifting moods at 2:15. Piece really tells a story. Flowing and beautiful as normal. I especially like the part between 3:30-4:00. Sounds like hurried footsteps muffled by the snow. In all honesty, the part after 4:15 seemed quite unnecessary. You never quite arrived at a satisfying cadence after that - why not end the piece on a climactic note? Still, one of my favorite compositions of yours in quite a while. Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip to Iceland! Keep up the great work. ^_^

Hi there!
I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for all the visual imagery!

I'm not sure from your review if it was clear, but this piece is an improvisation. Maybe I should've been clearer in the description :D
The part after 4:15 is my favorite part, so I have to disagree with that xD

I feel like modern music listeners have become somewhat of addicts to climaxes, drops, and endings that end in the expected way or expected note. Seemigly to the point, where they find it more difficult to enjoy the more intricate and surprising aspects of music. That's part of why I love improvisations, as they tend to be way more free than formulaic compositiions!

Thanks for reviewing ^____^

Wow, just wow. It's honestly nice to hear your stuff, it's full of emotion and meaning, rather instead of sounds that are just simply made. I really enjoy this piece, especially since it fits its name so well. I can almost imagine sitting under the Northern Lights just by listening to this.
That said, there were a couple of times where I felt a couple of notes didn't fit well with everything, like at 0:23 with that high note, at 2:16 with that low note, right before 3:02 within the chord, at 3:26 following the very high note, at 3:52 quickly following the high note as well - I listened to each several times over and somehow they didn't fit. I imagine those were some accidental hits, and I can't really criticize you on it because of how you just came back after a week lol. But that's really the only problem I see with this - all the little key changes are handles beautifully, the piece in its entirety is so innocent... I love this so much, wonderful job.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Hi! Thanks for all the nice compliments :D

I'm not entirely sure from your review if you got that this is an improvisation in its entirety :)
That said, I agree with most of the criticism, and there were some mistakes indeed ^____^
Thanks again for taking the time to listen so careully, and for the comments!
