Track 091 // Length: 4:24 // Style: Drum 'n Bass // Speed: 176 BPM // Measures: 194 // Loops: 23 // Time Taken: 8 days

This one was created for an independent project. Aaron Webber is the Public Relations and Social Media manager for the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise. He's been working on a side project, an RPG video game based off the SEGA Dreamcast classic, Skies Of Arcadia. He sends out a tweet (I told y'all I was taking this going viral thing serious now lol) stating that he's allowing the people to contribute with art, music, programming, etc. So I figured I'd jump in on an opportunity of a lifetime lol

This is intended to be a battle/boss battle theme. I've had a history of remixing Boss music that ended up doing really well amongst the community. This time it's a Drum 'n Bass piece with a touch of orchestral instruments enhanced by synths. I tried to make it as intense as I could, I do think dying down the drums to bring them up really help illustrate a sense of being able to think your actions during gameplay, while still fighting a tense battle. Most of the focus with this one was chord play. Making things work that you wouldn't normally hear. My childhood jazz background really helped with that bit.

I know 8 days doesn't sound like a lot, but I'll be honest I've never felt more focused and motivated in my life. There would often be times I'd stay up over 24 hours at a time to work on it. I've done nothing this past week and a half except work on this. It's a project I'm super excited for, and I cannot wait to see the final product, assuming everything follows through smooth as silk.

You all know what to do! All honesty is greatly appreciated! And thank you all so much for the listen!

Totally wicked. Love it.

PaulyBFromDa303 responds:

Thank you!

If this were to be used in geometry dash, I'd see a hectic demon rated level from it. But still I dig it :D

PaulyBFromDa303 responds:

XD I could see it. Something really metal and scary as the level, something that says "better get done quick". Thanks a lot for that!

First time listening to your stuff, and I am finding enjoyment in it.

As someone else said before me, the channels do seem unbalanced, the left has much more at once. Next time give the right a little more love.

But aside from that nitpick, I can't seem to find any other flaws. Good on you!

PaulyBFromDa303 responds:

Believe me, I've been testing this out on my current project. Yeah, it sounds better. I might even go through THIS one and remaster it real quick before reposting it. I guess i got too excited to pay close enough attention XD.

Thank you very much for this. Here's to dreams unraveling

WHERE'S THAT BOSS AT!?

PaulyBFromDa303 responds:

Wherever it is, i hope it's a formidable foe. Thanks so much

*cocks head*

hmm the mix sounds like it's leaning to the left a bit for some reason.. it's cool but the percussion feels a bit isolated on the right - that stuttered arp would sound cooler if it was panning to the far left and right imo - this song could use with some dynamic stereo.

The drums feel a bit.. basic.. perhaps giving them a bit of that synthwave room verb might help them out a bit.. they feel like they lack a bit of dimension for a song meant to be epic rolling like this.

The composition is spot on though man - I feel like you have a lot of great vegetables and have made some good dishes, but are still working out on how to present them professionally. Works great as a boss theme though!

PaulyBFromDa303 responds:

I would like to make a note on this: I did play around with the pan a little bit, but it wasn't the bells I isolated so much as the drums. I could go through each individual drum and adjust volumes, pans, and all the cool settings. For some reason, it didn't sound right together, so I would try to keep the trebles more on the right and basses left. I suppose I could've done more with the pan shifting though, you're right it probably would've made the modulated arp sound way better. I'll definitely keep this in mind for the next one

Thank you very much for such an insightful review. It's greatly appreciated
