The experimental texture at the beginning was pretty cool. The vocals have an ominous aspect to them. Despite the changes in energy, the harmonic progression of the piece is pretty slow. I liked the first build-up and drop, but the minimalism largely characterizes the entire piece at this point, which I think is concerning. There isn’t much strong melodic content here at all, and aspects of the texture sound a bit generic (like that open hat, for example). You clearly have a good sense of rhythm and progression, but I just think you could’ve done so much more with the composition here. The outro at 2:58 felt pretty unnecessary, though, and I don’t think the pitch-bent vocals there added much to the piece. That said, the production quality was also strong, and I appreciated the variations on the drop the second time around. Keep at it, VecodeX!
